Airing on January 3rd, 1993, the premiere episode, "Emissary," played out like a changing of the guard. Jean-Luc Picard and his crew, which had solidified Trek's glorious return to television with The Next Generation, boards the Enterprise at the episode's conclusion and disembarks for some new adventurebut the audience is left behind.
That's because it was time for something new, and that something was Deep Space Nine.
Now, some 26 years later, fans are returning to what's become a beloved show, sometimes even eclipsing the ones that had come before it, with What We've Left Behind, a crowdfunded documentary that explores the show, its past, its impact, and all the actors and creators that brought it to life. It's a project years in the making, and now we finally have a trailer.

Yeah there wasn’t money on “Next Generation”
SMH
I liked TNG okay but found the “everybody always gets along” vibe a bit trite. A thing I really liked in the DS9 premiere was how Sisko blamed Picard for the death of his wife thanks to his time as a Borg. Right away they said “confict between characters? yeah, that’s a thing again on this version of Star Trek”. A very good thing ineed.
Voyager was the worst of the post OS series, although I admit to not watching the most recent one. It started with an interesting premise- having to integrate enemy crews into a single functioning unit- but did nothing with it.
I liked Honest Trailer's description of the TNG Enterprise- "A cross between a battleship and a Marriott Convention Center".
LOL
Cool. I thought DS9 was the best.
DS9 was far more watchable then TNG.
For one thing Sisko didn’t have his high school guidance counselor with him!
I seem to remember an episode where three folks from the past were found alive and of course the capitalist was the monster of the group.
And also the one who could analyze the dangerous situation better than the Captain.
First season finale titled neutral zone if i remember correctly. The squishy we just want to be friends and all life forms are equal grew tiresome in all series but ds9 was the least squishy. Voyager was the worst janeway was going to allow voyager to be destroyed to save a member of soecies 8472 from the hirogen until 7 of 9 took care of it but got in trouble. My favorite ds9 is in the pale moon light where sisko tricks the romulans into the war with the help of garrick.
Didn’t watch it that much so I’ll have to take your word for it :)
I know the very first series well :)
DS9, suckiest of all the Star Trek series.
Not a huge fan of Next Generation or DS9 but there were some excellent episodes of both. I watched each and every episode because I was a HUGE STTOS fan (yes those are dated now).
My favorite spin off is still Enterprise. Much less liberal Prime Directive crap. Much more acting unilaterally and pi$$ing off the Vulcans. Really loved Shran the andorians. Cool buddy movie stuff with Shran
Voyager is by far the WORST. If it wasnt for 7 of 9 I would have missed all of these episodes.
The guy that played Elim Garak (Andrew Robinson) was the same guy who played the Scorpio Killer in the original ‘Dirty Harry’ (..so, you’re going to have to ask yourself a question...do I feel lucky...). Yup, that guy.
Absolutely!! I can still quote you the entire exchange between Sisco and Garak at the end. Pow!! Get up!!
Yes, I'm a Trekkie of sorts. Star Trek had a bigger concept and often had a morality tale. I like a couple of the early Star Trek movies, but then they got lame. The whale movie was stupid.
The best between Star Wars and Star Trek movies was the Star Trek reboot with Chris Pine (Kirk's birth&childhood) and how he became captain of the Enterprise. The casting was phenomenal and the actors had the characters down pat. Didn't care for the romance between Spock and Uhura, but can't everything.
I agree with you on DS9.
It still can’t touch B5.
