President Donald Trump, hammering on a favorite theme, on Friday said he was considering slapping Mexico with an unspecified economic penalty to crack down on what he describes as a crisis of undocumented immigration and drug trafficking on the U.S.-Mexico border. Although Trump has several times linked the issues of illegal immigration and drug smuggling as he tries to tighten border security, much of the drug trade is not carried out by migrants but by professional crime gangs that send narcotics to the United States in vehicles through official ports of entry. Praising Mexico for moving recently against drug traffickers, Trump said, “If they continue that, everything will be fine. If they don’t we’re going to tariff their cars at 25 percent.”

Trump inactive? Try Trump OBSTRUCTED at EVERY LEVEL of government. I frankly have no idea why he's still willing to take the slings and arrows, not only from the usual suspects, but also from friends. I don't know if either of us will be around to vote for him in 2020, but if we are, he's the only choice. Coulter, OTOH, will be pulling the lever for some Republican squish, and that isn't surprising given her history.

No she won't and neither will we. No sane person believes he will be reelected if he doesn't get a handle on the border. Don't pretend you are militarizing the border by sending a few National Guard people down there to change diapers. Close the border or else he will not be re-elected, that is what Coulter is warning about.
In the hundreds of postings here in Free Republic rarely is this brought up. It’s Known As Reciprocity. We treat Mexican citizens the way they treat Americans when we go there
Today’s so called democrats insist Americans must allow illegals storm in here by the hundreds of thousands despite their cost to us of billion$ in tax dollars,which is never enough. Tax money that should be going to our citizens for their sustenance,health,education,and housing even infrastructure needs. But Americans must do the tax flagellating punishment because we’re the very rich United States and must divert those billion$ to fill the needs of those poor illegals plus give them the right to vote. Sustained by our tax money which our chuldren’s children if not aborted will be paying for.
What never gets mentioned in all of this is the lacking reciprocal treatment. If we applied that policy Because when an American citizen ever tries getting any of those handouts including voting when going to where the great undocumented come from That would never happen. Would this continue ?

It’s time we consider illegal entry by any person who is a non Mexican citizen illegally entering the United States through the US Mexican border a defacto Mexican citizen with limited Mexican constitutional rights subject to their laws while transiting. As well as any Mexican citizen entering illegally exempting those who do so legally and meet US citizenship requirements. All subject to reciprocal citizen treatment a citizen of the United States receives in Mexico through the Mexican constitution on citizenship .
Besides being unable to vote one must also be a citizen to own land and Mexico is very restrictive about granting citizenship. Because of that a US citizen besides not being able to vote,and cannot have title in their name to any land property in Mexico. And until that is changed the US and the affected state should consider making that reciprocal. Prohibiting any illegal entrant employment, voting, and land ownership privileges fully enforced ..
In other words Sneak into this country before expulsion no job no voting no landowning ..

I exclude myself from this mess as it was Trump who brought me back to the voting booth after a decades long voting absence. I voted for Reagan in '88 and never found a Republican worth a damn since. Until now. That said, give Trump some time to get past the Mueller Hoax and the treasonous Paul Ryan. If Trump owned a dog it would be his only friend in Washington.

It’s clear how Coulter will vote; just look for which way the wind is blowing. Speaking of vacillation, you posted that you no longer believe that one man can change national politics. If true, please tell us how Trump should unilaterally seal the border?
I’d wager he has his reasons - would rather damage Mexico w/o doing same to American businesses if he can....I’d also wager that some instances of border closings are strategically planned if he doesn’t get what he wants from Mexico.
That makes sense.
Like I said, it’s easy to say this or that while i’m sitting here typing :)
It WOULD damage US businesses if all were shut.
But we’re gonna have to do some deporting down the line.
