Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s comments have gotten her into hot water recently, but she also said something that largely slipped under the radar – that it’s a “myth” and “unscientific” that transgender women have a “direct competitive advantage” in women’s powerlifting. Omar wrote a letter to USA Powerlifting after it refused to let a transgender women enter a Minnesota competition. “I urge you to reconsider this discriminatory, unscientific policy and follow the example of the International Olympic Committee,” she said. “The myth that transgender women have a ‘direct competitive advantage’ is not supported by medical science, and it continues to stoke fear and violence against one of the most at-risk committees in the world.”

This is not a joke to my family. We have a fine, Christian beautiful woman in our family that is an Olympic athlete. She currently holds the US record for her event. She has beaten the currant gold medalist in non Olympic events. I don’t have to remind anyone what kind of effort has gone into her achievement. I’m not going to post what I would be tempted to do if some male scams the system to “win” a medal that would deny her her just reward and essentially be rendered meaningless by being given to someone ineligible for it.

Way back when there was an East Germany, their “women” shot-putters, etc. were rumored to have had lots of testosterone to improve their strength. I wonder how long of a time period before the Olympic games having artificial testosterone was a disqualifying factor...and apply at least that much time to disqualifying someone who was born with X and Y chromosomes from competing in women’s sports. I would make it a permanent ban - because of the bone and muscle structure differences making a permanent difference.

It would be nice if she would try to gain a little knowledge in genetics and the hormonal differences between men and women before speaking.
