Seriously though, I retired at 60 and bought myself a farm out in the middle of nowhere.
Now I work the farm from daylight to dark and have never felt better, still working on all the cleanup from the storms that just passed through.
Cut up all the downed trees for next winters firewood, mucking out all my roadside ditches.
Replacing all the culverts that weren’t big enough.
Repairing all my dirt roads that washed out.
Every day is a new adventure (he, he), and it keeps me in pretty damn good shape for 70.
Go down the mountain every 6 months for a checkup with my Doc, he just looks at me and shakes his head, says I am healthier than he is and he’s only 40.

I’m 70 and yesterday a 500 mile drive through the Blue Ridge nearly sent me to the ER ‘cause I wasn’t taking my diuretics. Two hours after getting home I was fine but peeing like a race horse.

Some things you just can’t do anymore, like flying ten hours a day in a helicopter in Vietnam without a break.

I walk with a cane. No actual need for it but the cane is one of the few remaining weapons you can take anywhere in the world, even on an airplane. Mine has a handle that came off of a hiker's walking stick, a tip you can buy at any hardware store or pharmacy and the body is 3/8" steel, spray painted black, like they used to use to run wires through or in fencing. It can break bones without even scratching the paint and it gives you the added advantage of an opponent's being more relaxed because it's just some guy with a cane who must be hobbled. I'm more worried about stray dogs than feral humans but it works just as well on either. If you want something sturdy but lighter you can always use good copper tubing and if you want a fancy professional look you can buy an aluminum fighting cane

You're an inspiration. That's exactly what I am planning to do. I'm 53, and almost have my acerage (43acres) paid off. I've got to raise a barn and build a house yet, but I'll be farming it (God willing) in my semi-retirement.

I’m 71 ....that’s why I am concealed carry....If I feel my life or another’s life is threatened my only recourse is to hold them at bay of shoot them. It’s a terrible thing because even if you are 100% in the right it will most likely cost thousands. I carry special insurance for such things!!!
