True story - my first KO, I hit the guy and took off running. My friends said “Hurry up, he’s after you!”. I found out later that he wasn’t after anybody because he was on the floor.
Oh, I did have some fighting training. I wasn’t just lucky, though luck was a factor.

This guy was no Italian. Not sure what his background was, but he had a lot more mouth than common sense. And the more he drank, the more he ran his mouth. I was having a few beers too, but not like him.
I guess he finally tripped my trigger. I roundhoused him and connected right on the temple, the sweet spot.
I was a hero for quite a while after that! It was at a large house party, which my friend’s sister and brother in law frequently held.
These people were the damn druggies of the 60’s and 70’s what absolute ASSHATS!!! You can tell they can’t put a sentence together without the F word, probably can’t hold a job and NEED the government to take care of them!!!

The second event, I was not proud of. Guy was a former friend. Let’s just say that he confused kindness with weakness for a very long time. A confrontation finally occurred and I took him out. Same thing, roundhouse to the right temple. If I was MMA, that would be my signature move.
Less proud of that because he and I had been friends and I can’t help but think that we could have worked this out a different way.
Water over the dam though, and perhaps a lesson or two. I’m just not inclined to even get in the situations where I need/want to do that any more. And, I’m 60 years old as of about 2 weeks ago. I think my fighting days are behind me.

I was 18 and apparently stepped on the foot of the girlfriend of this guy, Johnny Limbo.
Supposed to be REALLY bad. Knocked guys out blah blah. Connected.
He asked me to apologize and I said #### you.
So he hit me and we must have exchanged a few dozen punches in under a minute. One of those fast and done fights. Our friends pulled us apart and he walked away.
Not one of his punches hurt.
Steroid ####.
It was great being the guy that took a gazillion punches form Limbo and showed no facial bruises at all :)

As far as being out of shape my advise is to buy a farm (20 to 40 acres), put down the brew and fire up the chain saw.

You would be surprised what you can get back if you work at it. Last fall I was carrying railroad ties (one at a time)around the yard (they needed moving). I go up steps three at a time (too lazy to do the 4 like I used to). I’m 72

Too much weight and heart attack risk at 50. That’s ridiculous.
Put on a lot of weight after pretty bad head injury in late 30s. Took 5 years to recover.

Been bicycling since 1965...my kids got Marin Bicycles ($400 each), Wife and I have Cannondales...the youngest has a $200 16 inch bike...(my commuting bike is a Wal Mart Roadmaster.)
played hockey until herniated disc made the choice for me. Have dropped the mitts once or twice generally holding my own. Two absolute CFS of a bench clearing discussion playing in college and beer league. Snowflakes would just be reacting as shirt is pulled over their head and three windmills to the noggin
