A highly organized multimillion-dollar shoplifting ring has been smashed after a 14-month investigation, Jersey City Police Department leaders announced a new conference Thursday afternoon.
Deputy Police Chief Mark Miller said that 11 people were arrested, including two of the rings leaders, in the JCPD Special Investigations Units Operation Bag and Boost. A dozen more have been charged but are not yet in custody.
Police recovered $3 million in stolen goods -- all from chain-store pharmacies and a beauty supplies store -- and froze $4.5 million from two bank accounts, Miller said.
Miller said the stolen items were placed on the popular auction online auction website eBay and shipped to unwitting purchasers.
Stephan Williams, of Jersey City, was charged as the ringleader, while Arsen Murtov, of Long Island, New York, was charged as a high-ranking member of the group that victimed stores in seven New Jersey counties, Queens, Nassau County and Suffolk County in New York and Connecticut, Miller said.

How diverse! Real Rainbow Coalition stuff.
How many of the ring members were government officials?
“...has been smashed after a 14-month investigation,...”
What’s the rush?
That’s a great question; although to look at some of the scruff in the pictures, if they’re gov, they have no dress code.
Well, as long as they forfeit their $10,000 bond, I guess we’ll call it square.
Lol
Must have been some decent organizational structure to steal that much before getting caught.
But obviously not enough:)
Well, as long as they forfeit their $10,000 bond, I guess well call it square.
Shoplifters of America...Unite!!
Should’ve operated in Boston; shoplifters are no longer arrested.
Trying to determine which one of those nuggets was the brains of the operation.
Fagin and the Artful Dodger ... 2.0.
Im sorry but we are going to have to start hanging thieves.
There are too many of them and they arent afraid of prison.
Come on.
One of the article commwnters said the gang targeted stores with a “no confrontation policy”. Stuff a big gift bag and walk out.

Have a heart. Let’s just cut one of their hands off, preferably the left one so they have to wipe their butts with their eating hand.
“a 14-month investigation...” Very cool. I admire the preparation. Losers steal and fail to realize that everything needs to be paid up at death, or else gnashing of teeth. Steal and then sell stuff on Ebay? Low IQ, for sure.
