Robert “King David” Ross of Charleston wears his Egyptian headress while reading the 23andMe letter informing him of his familial link to Pharoah Ramsesses III
Robert Ross retired as a management analyst with the U.S. General Accounting Office in Chicago, moved back to Charleston and currently works as a sexton at Morris Street Baptist Church.
But most people probably recognize him for the distinctive black-and-gold Pharaoh headdress he often wears around town to express his passion for ancient Egypt.
In other words, he’s been wearing it long before a 23andMe letter arrived in January analyzing his DNA — a letter that would move him to tears and confirm his many years of work.
“You share an ancient paternal lineage with Pharaoh Ramesses III,” it read. “You and Ramesses III share an ancient paternal-line ancestor who probably lived in north Africa or western Asia.”
Ross was ecstatic.
“When I first read it, I was so happy, and I was just so glad,” he said. “Then I thought, ‘No wonder I’m re-enacting and doing certain things that’s sort of unexplainable. It’s all part of the gene!’”
Ross said his passion for ancient Africa began to stir several decades ago, when he visited the King Tutankhamun exhibition in Chicago.
Until then, his impression of Egypt was that it was racially and culturally linked more to Europe than Africa, a perception he said was created by Hollywood stars in movies such as “The Ten Commandments.”
But when Ross saw King Tut’s gold death mask, he said, “It was like seeing myself. Something just came over me, and I started crying.”

I do not believe that 23AndMe KNOWS any definite direct ancient lineage with any certain ancient individuals - only DNA groups by region.
I suspect that “King David’s” letter will be proven to be a fraud, and 23AndMe will denounce it as the kind of of detailed lineage they cannot and do not pretend to do.
No doubt he is also linked to Liz Warren.
And we wuz Kodos!
If he were king tuts son..or even his grand son ..he might get some benefit out of it.
Otherwise, it’s kind of like being the great great grandson of Thomas Elva Edison.

Rameses II hated the Nubians so much that he had one painted on each of the soles of his sandals so that he could tread on them wherever he walked. Egyptians are painted tan and Nubians black.
Most likely a Jefferson, Washington, or Johnson, Maybe even an Irishman or Scottsman or two.

You’re pretty much related to almost everyone who lived 3000 years ago, so there’s that. You’re expanding Family Tree Grows exponentially until several centuries ago it widens to the point of being a number equal to more than everybody living on Earth. Then it follows a narrowing path into archaic times. So yes, he’s probably related to Ramses third, and so is everybody else.
If the government said, "We want DNA samples from Americans." they'd be met with outrage.
So now we have front organizations that say, "Send us $200 and a swab of your saliva and we'll tell you all the cool people you might be related to!"

What is really going on here with he “Ancient Egyptians were black” is cultural appropriation. When the accomplishments of Sub-Sahara Africa was examined, they found no great buildings, no historical written record, no aqueducts, no great ships, no road construction, no great bridges, and on and on. So, they matched on to another civilization.
More like Burger KING.
