Yesterday I measured my blood glucose when I was experiencing ravenous thirst. I would drink a quart of water, then on the last gulp, experience an intense thirst. I knew something was wrong.
I measured on the meter and it said "HIGH, OVER 600 mg/dL". It was too high for the meter.
I took 40 units of long-acting insulin and 50 units of a sliding-scale immediate-acting insulin, and in 4 hours I was at 460 mg/dL b/g. Based on how insulin is processed in my body, I extrapolate that at one point I was at 1,100 mg/dL b/g.
I felt death close by me.
I am so concerned about a thug or a government killing me, but the reality is I will die from disease. All my guns won't protect me from diabetes.
C’mon dude, we don’t want to lose you. Get on dat sh*t.
Gotta keep hit’n it.
Please take good care, I’m not sure I can face another election without your complaint thread!
Thanks for the tip. I’ll give me more time to think about it...
Geez, and I get worried when mine is 100-102.
There’s no need to be fatalistic like that. I’m a type 1 diabetic and I enjoy a healthy life because I exercise tight control over my blood sugar. What’s stopping you from doing the same?
Laz Laz Laz. No wonder you felt like death.....you were approaching that point when one slips into diabetic coma. That can kill you
We still need you around. Please take better of yourself
Step away from the carbs.
I'm just trying to say that my hypertension is seasonal. In the summer it will drop to about 130/90
Don’t you dare die before me.
5.56mm
Keep an eye on that buddy.
I’m hoping i’m still in the 90s but I eat awful. Needs to stop.
You are VERY LOW pre diabetic, get it back into the 90s
I have read it’s doable.
We should both be on this board 20 years from now :)
I seriously hope Laz went to a doctor today.
That kind of number can do damage, thank God it didn’t.
Whoa! Prayers up brother. Have family members and friends that deal with diabetes. Took each a while to settle into a routine of checking sugar level and knowing what/when to eat.
At this point it might be easier and more productive to do a brain transplant. With Laz's brain installed in her body, Alyssa Milano's Twitter feed ought to be interesting.
Seriously Laz, I thought that 124 was high for me yesterday. See a good doctor.
*** “I have pretty high BP and the fact that I won’t take drugs for it drives my wife nuts but that 1100 is more serious that 170/110” ***
My BP this morning was 191/104 w 74 pulse rate... the side effects of the BP meds is worse in my opinion.
I have found that if I Fast it stays around the 150/80 range
(My Dentist won’t work on me until I relax and do some deep breathing to get down to a “Safe” level)
No problem. You can buy 4 of R, L, or 70/30 at a time for $100. For one bottle a month, you can get years of insulin and the insulin lasts much longer now than it used to.
Exercise is one of the primary keys to keeping BS under control.
I would immediately report to the nearest hospital and get the sugar under control.
I was diagnosed in ‘99. My doctor put me on insulin and slowly took me off the needle (about 6 months) and on to metformin.
I’ve head all the metformin horror stories but my A1C is under 6...
Diabetes is the most insidious disease to hit mankind.
Blessings Laz, hang in there.
Read up on Apple Cider Vinegar and Cinnamon.
Why don’t you trust hypertension drugs? High blood pressure damages your arteries leading to a higher risk of heart attack or stroke.
155/100 is still too high.
