Yesterday I measured my blood glucose when I was experiencing ravenous thirst. I would drink a quart of water, then on the last gulp, experience an intense thirst. I knew something was wrong.
I measured on the meter and it said "HIGH, OVER 600 mg/dL". It was too high for the meter.
I took 40 units of long-acting insulin and 50 units of a sliding-scale immediate-acting insulin, and in 4 hours I was at 460 mg/dL b/g. Based on how insulin is processed in my body, I extrapolate that at one point I was at 1,100 mg/dL b/g.
I felt death close by me.
I am so concerned about a thug or a government killing me, but the reality is I will die from disease. All my guns won't protect me from diabetes.
I would suggest to your doctor that you are a candidate for the MiniMed insulin pump plus closed loop sensor.
It's tough on your heart....
Don't quite understand your post.....
You’re not allowed to die.
The ugly women of the world need you.
But here's what a doctor likely won't tell you so I'll tell you what works well for me diet-wise.
Cut the added sugar, processed foods and fast foods. Eat natural stuff all the time (and as much as you want)...fish, meat, yogurt (the whole milk kind with cream on top), nuts, berries, green vegetables, olive oil (instead of other condiments), etc. Drink tons of water. If alcohol, stick to red wine or bourbon. Drink as much water as you comfortably can and shoot for four (16oz) bottles a day. All the black coffee you want to drink (you will learn to appreciate coffee more without the cream and sugar).
After the first week or two, you will feel better and eventually you will actually desire the aforementioned foods and not even crave the other stuff.
Today I had two eggs for breakfast with a 4% milkfat yogurt with blueberries swirled in. Tin of sardine and handful of raw almonds for lunch. Tonight, I'll likely have a steak with asparagus and a garden salad with raw sunflower seeds, more raw almonds and olive oil.
It will be about 1900 calories when all is said and done and I'll not have been hungry all day. I'll finish the day with a couple glasses red wine.
Some call it keto, some call it low-carb. I just call it healthy eating.
All Type 2 diabetes is out of my system and my blood work is fantastic.
Doctors won't tell you about the above however. Like global warming fanatics, they will keep preaching that long discredited "low-fat" balanced diet and tell you to do nutty stuff like remove skin from chicken, subsitute butter for margarine and to eat egg whites. Don't listen to them...on that part.
If its type11 start drinking canary seed milk everyday. You can buy the food grade canary seed powder online or at the health food store. It will lower your blood sugar fast. Mr. GG2 took it for 90 days and lowered his back to normal.
Terry CREWS -- Just in case anyone is trying to research him.
Sounds serious Laz.
We really want you to stick around.
You are very valuable on Free Republic!
Thank you Lazamataz for sharing with the site....
I do not of course know you personally, however, I want you to know that I will be praying for you.... not in ‘thought’ but in real prayer and belief. Pulling down strongholds...in the name of Jesus.
Lazamataz, the most important question that you must ask yourself is “Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?”.... Have you repented of you sins and are now living now on the ‘narrow road’ for His glory?
All the gifts that life can give Lazamataz will matter nothing in eternity....only Christ will save you from the second death.
If you have a saving knowledge of Jesus....I rejoice with you.... BUT if not... I will pray that God, who is the Alpha and the Omega, will open your blinded eyes to see his loving deliverance through His Son Jesus Christ.
In His great Love,
David
You need to check for ketones in your urine. They are what can lead to serious problems. Wal-Mart sells test strips for about about $9. Or I’ll trade you one of my boxes for a gun.
If you drop your blood glucose too fast you can get cerebral edema. 1100 glucose is an ICU level patient, you are really sick. Maybe it wasnt that high, but you need to get a glucose monitor that attaches to you to give constant readouts. You need to see an endocrinologist.
Prayers coming your way. Take care Laz!
Jog, don't walk, to the nearest Catholic Church and do the Stations of the Cross on your knees. That'll l'arn ya.
I am praying for ya, ya ornery old buzzard.
xxxxxooooooo
All the government has to do is take away your insulin and test strips, not your guns. Type 1 diabetics will start dropping like flies. Type 2s may following after a short time. But in a SHTF situation it is more likely starvation, lack of water, uncontrolled diabetes (due to lack of insulin and refrigeration), or all of these will lead to a slow painful death within a short period of time. There, does that make you feel any better?
Prayers are up, Laz. We need you for the old not guilty/guilty.
See your doctor ASAP & he may have you admitted like mine did when my B/S skyrocketed.
My diet isn’t so bad but the blood content in my alcohol is decreasing. And that’s with diet mixers. Quit cold turkey in hospital & the B/S normalized but what do I do the other 358 days?
Hang in there, FRiend. Catherine Zeta-Jones doesn’t want to lose you, either.
You’re in my prayers Laz... we need you here.
So please... we’ll pray for you, but YOU need to see a doctor and do all the crap he wants to you to do...
Sounds like you were in DKA!
Didn’t you also check your ketones?
When’s the last time you saw the doctor? Something tells me your A1C looks like hell. And I hope you appreciate the implications of that as well.
Take care, dude.
Bkmrk.
Unless stockpile insulin from Wal-Mart and have a liquid gel cooler.

Take care of yourself Laz...
