AFAIK, “non-doctors” have always been the ones doing most abortions. Since: forever.
Planned Parenthood has fought tooth & nail against legislation that would require “abortionists” to have emergency room admitting privileges, precisely because they aren’t doctors, they’re technicians trained to do abortions & not much else.
PP has stated, if they’re required to hire only doctors with ER admitting privileges, many clinics will be forced to shut down.
They routinely tell women that if complications occur, you’re on your own, go to the ER. Do not return to clinic, because nobody there can help them.
This forces the ER doctors & hospital to accept liability. Hence, hospitals favor the legislation. Abortionists don’t.
They’ve gone full circle now. They used to blame ‘coat hanger doctors in back alleys’, and now they are endorsing this.
