An attempt at taking a selfie at the zoo devolved into a dangerous situation for a woman in Phoenix, Arizona, on Saturday evening, according to zoo officials and emergency responders.
The visitor at the city's Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium and Safari Park allegedly crossed a barrier to snap a photo near a jaguar when the animal clawed her arm, causing injuries.
A witness who captured video of the aftermath of the attack posted the footage to Reddit; it depicts the zoo guest crying on the ground with visible, bloody gashes on her arm as bystanders crowd around to offer aid.
The zoo confirmed the incident in a statement and said the guest had been taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

"...look at how stoopid I am"
Nowadays people have a million pictures of themselves to look at. "Here I am at the park, look at my fabulous outfit." "Here I am in the hospital when my niece was born, wasn't my hair fantastic that day?" I feel like when they are old they will wonder why they didn't take more shots of their friends and loved ones and try to remember what they looked like. But at least they'll always have the memories of that amazing white purse they had that day.
How stupid can you be? Idiots all over the world have killed themselves taking selfies—falling off mountains, falling into the sea, falling into zoo enclosures of dangerous critters, etc.
She is lucky...could have been her jugular the big cat cut open...
I’m just going to say that I despise stupid people.
You can tell prior to this incident her judgement was always flawless, as evidenced by the massive tattoos.
Agreed, it’s really crazy how many people have died taking selfies.
many big cats go for the head bite which would have eliminated here in a hurry.
.....and .... she will sue.
“Nature red in tooth and claw”: figure it out.
LOL. Those are hilarious.
Stupidity should hurt.
Jaguar eh!
The US Government decided to exterminate the Jaguars in the USA during the 40s. They used to be as plentiful as mountain lions, but the interior department put a hefty bounty on them and lots of GIs back from WW2 wiped them all out. Now we have several crack pot conservationists who want to re-introduce them.
Most of them were in New Mexico, Arizona, California and Texas, but they would occasionally be seen as far north and east as Pennsylvania and Western New York. Glad their gone. They were considered to be the strongest and most powerful big cat, even more so than tigers.

The cat’s too smart. It knew that if it bit off her head it would just get a mouthful of air.
