Senate has votes to block Trump’s emergency declaration: McConnell

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he expects his chamber will have the votes to pass a resolution blocking President Trump’s national emergency declaration, but an effort to override a presidential veto will fail in the House. “I think what is clear in the Senate is that there will be enough votes to pass the resolution of disapproval, which will then be vetoed by the president and then in all likelihood the veto will be upheld in the House,” McConnell said Monday. He said the Senate vote would happen before the lawmakers go on a one-week recess March 15.

Different rules apply to a resolution. Mitch can’t block a resolution from coming to a vote.

I'd like to empty my cat's litter box, right after she used it, over McConnell's traitorous head. My hatred of this smug traitor, helping to destroy America, knows no bounds. Ditto Schumer, Pelosi, and the RINOS Collins, Murkowski, et al. For personal gain, they are ready, willing, and able---eager---to destroy our country forever in return for personal gain of money and power. What extraordinarily LITTLE people they are, and they should be squashed like a bug. Instead, their ignorant, libtard, drugged up constituents, rather than do a bit of research to find a better person to vote for, just pull the lever for the name they know on the ballot. These kind of mentally lazy and physically lazy (too much trouble to make it to the polls at all) people are not the people who built our marvelous country. They have no wit and they have no grit.

I am somewhat in despair this morning after reading that McConnell is doing his lowlife best to quash Trump's emergency declaration. I really would like to stomp this turd, this traitor, and wipe the smile off his chelonian face.

I've been saying this from the very beginning, and everyone's been disagreeing with me: President Trump did what he said he would never do. He announced his intention ahead of time. He should've made that Executive Order when he first said he could, when the gov was closed because of no budget. He would've caught the maniacs off guard, and hustled away for their vacation! Instead, he gave the opposition time to develop a strategy and gin up their masses.

Another disappointment: Why didn't he end the war with North Korea? It's been an amnesty since 1953. He could've given a real nice speech about DDE warning about the military-industrial complex.

With the wall situation and the National Emergency not being done then, I'm baffled. It's almost like it's us supporters who are being played. First he didn't demand that Paul Ryan include it in that God-awful budget President Trump signed. Then he didn't do that EO when the 'pubs had lost the majority but the dems still hadn't taken over.

Any Republican who votes for this is a self declared enemy of the Republic or a delusional fool who will see the country destroyed rather than recognize the existential invasion taking place on the Southern border. They should be treated as public enemies and children should throw rotten fruit at them when they appear in public.

For the military side (Foreign Military Financing (FMF) and International Military Education and Training (IMET)), the State Department and the Defense Department control the disposition of funds provided to them by - Congress.

There are also Justice Dept, DHS, DEA and a whole host of other alphabet agencies providing funding for both classified and unclassified ventures. Congress controls all the funding. Oversight of the classified projects is limited to the members of Congress on the Intelligence Committees.

McConnell should realize that Congress voting for disapproval of Trump’s National Emergency act is all the excuse John Roberts needs to uphold the inevitable 9th Circuit injunction.

McConnell has to get the Senate to vote Trump’s way.
Where is Manchin on this issue?

Yeah other than the tax cut and federal judges what has the GOP done for the last two years except cause more problems than the Democrats for Trump?

Trump putting conservative judges in the courts is the ONLY reason I have to vote R in November. The GOP is with a doubt the biggest bunch of useless cowards to ever suck air in a pair of lungs.

At some point the GOP must die, it refuses to change from the Metoo party and btw, we are the stupid party too, vote for us!

Which demonrat Senators from Trump states are coming up for re-election next year? Will their puppet master Schumer allow any of them to vote against the resolution in order to keep their seats? Joe Manchin was allowed to vote to confirm Kavanaugh last year in order to keep his Senate seat.

I believe several groups have already filed briefs in the 9th Circuit.

Remember though Trump has seated 2-3 new judges in the ninth circuit now. I believe the Court is tied with judges appointed by both Rep and Dem presidents now.

This kind of crap is why I quit giving to the Republican party. I only give to candidates or organizations that I believe in.....The GOP has too many deadbeats.

It’s not legislation, and it does not not have the votes to override a veto by President Trump.

Kabuki theater.
