From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed any time-and don't have to be about gardening.
We will be bringing in the onions from the greenhouse tomorrow as it will be way below freezing tomorrow night. We will also be building a nice fire in the fireplace. We are down to the last of the wood-so saved it for the worst weather.

Having to cover all my blueberries, hazelnuts and broccoli/lettuce/etc sometime tomorrow after the windy/bad weather has passed. Nightime lows in the mid 20’s forecast for my locale.

I suggested just covering the onions in the greenhouse-Hubby is not buying it. He’s gonna bring them in. But he doesn’t want to have to take them upstairs, so I have to clear a space for them -blech.
Temp has been way below normal in upstate so not sure what spring will be like...if we ever get there.
Well, Spring will no doubt spring sooner or later, unless we go directly to summer.

I shoveled the car out no less than three times today...but the snow is still falling.
Oh well, it will be easier tomorrow since most of the work is done.
Thanks for those pics. That is sort of like the shelves we are going to order for the greenhouse that Hubby picked out.
Ha. That’s what I do when we are going to get a lot of snow. Every so often, I just go out and shovel a bit.
If I don’t the screen door won’t open-it only has about a half inch clearance. Makes the job easier and not so overwhelming.
The older I get, the more that is my strategy-just do a little bit at a time, until it’s finished.

Oh My! I did read somewhere that there was lots of rain out there-it was a response to AOC(OCRAZZIO) MAP she posted on the results of GLOBULL Warming.
Me- I’m watching ice age farmer and preparing for some winters like we had in the 1970s or worse.

Hello from Louisiana ! Still very VERY wet here just above Lake Ponchartrain but everything is springing to life ! I see that winter is making its stay a little longer for some ,.... some years its short and other years it stays longer , not much you can do . This is my first time seeing up close Spring here in Louisiana , absolutely brilliant ! colors are vivid and cross every color spectrum , My best wishes go to those of you having to protect your fledgling plants ...Your situation makes my “to soft a ground to mow” problem trivial . We are at 7 degrees above this AM. We got about 2 inches of snow too. Sun’s not out. Hope we get a little to heat up the greenhouse.
You are welcome-Thanks for responding. We sometimes have snow in April. I don’t like to plant and then transplant. I like to direct sow. So mostly, I’ll be waiting impatiently for April 1 which is when the taters will be planted.
However, I am thinking about planting a spring cover crop mix to turn under at the end of May before planting corn in June.
Hubby does all the early starting and planting. So I wait several weeks before planting my corn -avoids cross pollination with his.
