WANAQUE, N.J. Some students at a New Jersey high school are upset that they wont be able to make a grand entrance by taking limousines and luxury cars to their prom.
Lakeland Regional High School administrators sent a letter to parents this week stating that prom attendees must take school-provided and chaperoned coach buses to and from the venue in June.
Schools Superintendent Hugh Beattie says its a matter of safety and equity...

The guy on the news said that the venue was far away and parking was limited. I couldn’t figure out the parking part. But now I figure if 20 limos show up, where are the little cars going to park? Most parking lots are not designed for limos.
We’ll see how the students and parents respond to this busing rule.
No problem, just tell them that your limousines self identifies as a Kia...........
Luxury cars? Like Mercedes, Rolls, Jaguars? Some parents drive those, does this mean that students can’t drive their own family cars?
A matter of safety and equity...not mention climate change.
Then why are they mentioning EQUITY?
Lots of drunk limo drivers?
Pay attention, kids. Notice how the equity part of safety and equity delivers you equal crappy school bus rides rather than equal limousine rides? Yeah, thats how Socialism works.
No, the kids can’t drive their own cars either as I understand it.
Also, the girls should forgo the gowns and dress in appropriately dowdy pant suits.
Well, the good side of this is that it will cut down the number of parents moving to jobs in another town three months later...
My HS cheer:
We drive Porsche’s!
We drive ‘Cedes!
All you got is
Shady ladies!
According to the news, the venue is 45 minutes away.
That may be the reason for equity.
They’re also mentioning charter buses.
There's nothing "now known" about it.
You've posted a message here about the dangers of limousines, and you cite a limo crash in upstate New York last year where the design of the vehicle wasn't even close to the biggest problem.
1. The vehicle drove through a stop sign at a T-intersection, at a speed of 50+ miles per hour.
2. The vehicle had 18 seats but was only rated for 10.
3. The vehicle had been ordered out of service after failing multiple state inspections.
4. The driver did not have a CDL with a passenger endorsement, which was required for any vehicle carrying that many passengers.
The whole thing was a cluster-f#%&. It was a sh!tty, fifth-rate limo company operating in that Third World dump known as New York. The design of the vehicle was the least of anyone's problems there.
Right - ruin a one time event for some of those kids.
Good point; hadn’t thought of that.
It’s about the sex. Parents don’t want their kids driving around in mobile boudoirs.
LOL Thats one story. There are thousands of limos operating daily with no problems.
Ignorant child. Don't confuse NEW YORK CITY with UPSTATE NEW YORK. We are not a dump.
Here UPSTATE they are discussing the limo accident when referring to the prom.
really? the death of 20 people gets a”LOL” from you?
The Nazi-coms are running the schools.
