Mashable ^ | February 26, 2019 | Harry Hill

According to the store's website, the shoe serves up "toast-ed leather, smashed avocado textured suede, red pepper flake collar lining." And, because branding is key, "the 'Saucamole' shout out on the heel." The shoes are geared towards men, with a size conversion chart available to women who want to get in on the action.

Who designs this crap, anyway?

You never know. The then-wife liked to stop at the LL Bean "basement" or whatever they called the marked down facility.

She found a powder green heavy canvas duffel bag with leather bottom, so I bought it for her. Other than the dirt-attracting light color, it was a great bag, especially for the price.

A Summer or two later, we're standing at a ferry landing waiting to board, and a young woman starts asking us about the duffel.

Turns out she designed it, and asked if we'd tell her how much if we remembered.

I told her "$35.50". She was bummed, and said the leather alone was over $12 dollars a square foot.

Lots of things look good on paper.

No denying that’s a good recipe, too!

Spread mashed avocado on a good whole grain toast and sprinkle with salt. The avocado replaces butter. It's really good.

When we lived in Hayward, CA, we had a huge avocado tree but would only get a couple avocados from it. I think it might because there were no others to pollinate it. Fwiw, I like avocados. I never had them until I moved to CA.

When I was growing up in NJ, barbecue consisted of holding a 3x3 bunk of szalonna (bacon) over a wood fire and putting the drippings on good the bread. Cut off and add the burnt pieces, sliced onion, tomato and cucumber. Fit for a king.

So the avocado plant I started as a lark a couple of years ago isn’t going to give me any fruit sitting in the kitchen?

That’s the one. Ugliest shoes ever...and plastic. Reminds me of the fanny pack. Or women wearing curlers in public.

Thanks.

Sounds real good! A BLT without the lettuce, but with onions and cuke.

No. I lived through the Avogadro colored kitchen appliances of the seventies.
The house I live in was decorated that way when I moved in. Still have one sink that color(avocado) . That and "Harvest Gold". Appliances and bath fixtures. Even with shag carpets to match.

Regardless of color, grown men should never wear sneakers outside the gym.

You tell some people that if they believe they can be a designer, artist, writer, musician, etc., then they can be any or all of those things...but they really can't because all the believing in the world can't give them the actual natural talent, ability and genius of a truly great designer, artist, writer, musician, etc.
