INDIA/PAKISTAN At War: Should We Care?

Posted on 02/24/2019 7:41:48 AM PST by DIRTYSECRET

National Review's Kevin Williamson wrote on the subject today. Pakistan is not an ally. They've been rolling us for decades. India is superior militarily and they sided with the Soviets during the Cold War. China is the wild card. Throw in nukes and you have a serious problem on the 'other side' of the world. India may soon have the ability to take on China but two of them? Dzo the muslims in Pakistan really cared for the Bhuddists in China? Then there's nuclear fallout: Would the rest of the world be endangered if they went all out? I don't think we could stop them. China doesn't care-should we?

There won’t be a conventional war. India may be superior militarily but no nuclear armed country has ever experienced a determined conventional invasion of its territory, lost territory or been forced into an unfavorable peace. That is why like it or not nations such as Iran, the Ukraine, Egypt North Korea and others are openly or seeking to become armed with nuclear weapons.

A nuclear exchange would result in the death of millions. Still there will be many millions more left. And the fallout?

I would pull for India to win since I really like curry.
I’ll bet you can’t find a plate of pork vindaloo anywhere in Pakistan.

There are 140 million muslims in India. Would a major war settle their differences once and for all?

What could go wrong?

Completely random aside, but in the Civilization game once India becomes a Democracy and has nukes they become hyper aggressive. This was a bug in the original Civ but is now a feature.

They don’t call nuclear weapons the “peacemaker” for nothing. If India were to invade and take Kashmir, they could never be sure that a defeated, desperate Pakistan won’t retaliate with nuclear weapons against their population and political centers. The carnage would be immense, political disorder and famine would ensue. It could be the end of Indian Hindu culture as it is now known and the nation itself. China would take what it wants. Pakistan would become a barbaric wasteland. The Indians won’t risk it. The skirmishing will continue but there will be no big conventional war

One of the many perceptive things I wrote here after 9/11 was that Bush should be in New Delhi by the end of the next week to arrange the conquest and dissolution of Pakistan.

I was trying to pin down his accent and asked if he was calling from India.
He said he was in Pakistan...

I can usually pin down these types of calls by the “cherp” on the line when I answer.

Best thing that could happen to the world is for both of these countries to kill each other off, reducing the ignorant tribal population of the world by something like 25%.

That idjit got upset that i googled his command line prompt.

When he was informed that the microsoft site declared it a malware scam, he became irate and emphatically shouted that he wasn't from microsoft, he was from windows! LOL.

I could see where we would have to preemptively take out Pakistans nukes if things got too hot and heavy. How we would do that I don’t know. I say this because Pakistan muslims are crazy.

Quality-of-cuisine is a bad predictor of military success ...

if that were the case, we’d all be speaking French or Italian now, not English

India didn’t “side with the Soviets” in the cold war. They were founding members of the Non-aligned movement and tried to avoid being wrapped around the axle for either camp.

But it did freak them out when we signed a treaty alliance with the Pakistani psychos. They bought equipment from the Soviets but were not in any military alliance with them in the sense that Warsaw pact nations, North Vietnam, and other were. India never got into the world revolution thing.

India has never acted belligerent towards the USA, even when it had MiG-21s flying in it’s Air Force. It’s a stretch to say they were siding with the USSR.

But he did manage to invade Iraq. Even after it became known that the 9/11 terrorists were Saudis, funded and inspired by the Saudi subsidized Wahhabi and that the 9/11 operation went forward even though Saudi intelligence was aware of the plot. Of course the fact that the Bush family became wealthy dealing with the Saudi royals in the oil business had no bearing on his decision to invade Iraq which even after the Gulf war was still an existential threat to the Saudi royals. Interesting footnote. In 2014 the Saudis were furious that Putin was supporting Assad and thwarting their plans. They informed Putin that if that support continued then they the Saudis could not guarantee that there would not be terrorist attacks at the Sochi, Russia Winter Olympics. Putin responded by not so subtly stationing three Russian nuclear submarines off the coasts of Saudi Arabia and informed the Saudis that if there were attacks, he would not be invading Iraq.
