The reboot of the classic episodic TV show The Twilight Zone will hit CBS All Access on April 1st, and with just over a month to go, CBS has released a full trailer for the series.
Get Out director Jordan Peele will host and produce the show, as heard in a surreal TV spot that aired during this years Super Bowl. This new teaser shows off a bit more of what to expect from this new effort: a series of surreal, unsettling episodes with a cast that includes Adam Scott, Kumail Nanjiani, John Cho, and Peele himself.

OTOH, if Japan had to have been invaded, that would have been very bad too.
One of the things I heard about the new version is they’re remaking Nightmare at 20,000 feet AGAIN. There’s already the original 50s version with William Shatner and the 1980s Twilight Zone The Movie version with John Lithgow. I don’t know how they’ll top that. Doing a CGI version of the monster would be less effective, and the story gets less and less powerful if the audience is already familiar with what happens.
Random Twilight Zone trivia, “Dead Man’s Shoes” is the only Twilight Zone story to appear in all three versions of The Twilight Zone (50s, 80s, 2000s), so I supposed its inevitable that Jordan Peele will give us a fourth version.
Shatner was good in the 1st version of “20,000 Feet”, though I thought he was better in his 1st TZ appearance, ‘Nick of Time.’ Lithgow was utterly magnificent in the film remake as the ultimate white-knuckle flier (added kudos to the actress who played the bratty little girl harassing Lithgow’s character). There is simply no way it can be topped (and besides, the flying monster was secondary, anyhow).
I remember seeing the Twilight Zone movie. I remember the controversy surrounding the helicopter crash which killed Vic Morrow and two others during filming.
Which brings me to: No way the Vic Mortow segment of the movie could get made today. His character speaks out rather loudly and clearly against AA.
And topping John Lithgows segment? Not happening.
I expect this remake to be a PC crapfest. Surprise...
Gadzoosk-- remember that the definition of 'insanity' is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results--
And the Loony Left Socialist never seem to learn that, eh?
So I shall not be watching any new version of Golden Age TV by any of the schmucks that hold power these days in LaLaLand.
If that balloon went up, it’s a good bet every combat unit in the Pacific would have been pulled back to Europe, with the exception of occupation forces to make sure the Japs stayed in line.
But here’s another thought’ the Japs had ZERO love for the Soviets, so there might even have been a situation where the Japs - recent enemies - became sudden allies.
Strange, all the “what-ifs”...
“...ansferred from Europe to the Pacific....”
It was a very real fear that a LOT of the guys in Europe had. They were like “Hey, we did our job already...”
Okinawa was a preview of what hitting the home islands would have been like.
Truman’s decision to drop the bombs was based on the carnage at Okinawa. Two of my uncles were there, one Marine, one Army.
If you ever want to read a seriously good study of Okinawa, read George Feifer’s “Tennozan”. Extremely well-written and researched.
Home island invasion would have resulted in literally a million deaths, American and Japanese.
Staggering to contemplate it. The strange thing is, by dropping the Atomic bombs on two cities and forcing the surrender, it probably saved the lives of the majority of the Japanese.
RE 1980 20,0000 Feet:
Loved it.

They just raised their rates. Mine is going up to $16 for the HD plan
Years ago The Outer Limits was resurrected and they had some great shows. Unfortunately they didn’t last long.

Best parody of a libtard I’ve ever seen. She, if it’s really a chick, never breaks character.
No, they do realize it and that's exactly why they're doing it - to kill broadcast TV which the FCC makes them keep over the air. If they put enough crappy content out OTA and people move to streaming their "quality" content, OTA broadcasters like ABC, NBC, CBS etc.. all have a case to be made to eliminate expensive to maintain broadcast stations and move to streaming services where they are far, FAR less regulated and can be more profitable.
It's also far easier to measure who's watching a streaming service, where they are and some basic demographic info. than it is via OTA.
But heres another thought the Japs had ZERO love for the Soviets, so there might even have been a situation where the Japs - recent enemies - became sudden allies.
The Germans from the West, The Japanese from the East. Let our old foes to the heavy lifting. Love it!

True. True.

Completely true! Staggering, for sure.
Great opening,
I remember the Vic Morrow scene you mentioned.
A shame he died during that film.
I remember him from “Combat”.

I was pretty small when this started (like 1yr old..).
I remember mostly the Color episodes.
And also “The Rat Patrol”.
