FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A Canadian woman was arrested Tuesday at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after making what she called a "stupid joke" about a bomb in a suitcase.
Nathalie Tremblay and her boyfriend had boarded an Air Canada flight bound for Montreal when a flight attendant asked whose bag would not allow an overhead bin to close.
According to the arrest report, Tremblay told the flight attendant, "There's a bomb in it" and began laughing.
The attendant alerted the pilot, who ordered the plane to be evacuated, while the terminal was forced to close as a Broward Sheriff's Office bomb squad was called to the scene.
Tremblay originally told investigators that she had actually said, "I hope there's not a bomb in there," before admitting and apologizing for saying, "It's probably a bomb."
The bomb squad eventually cleared the scene and passengers were allowed to re-board the flight.
Tremblay was arrested on a charge of making a false report over a bomb threat.

In 2019 it takes a special kind of stupid to make bomb jokes on an airplane.
Every once in awhile this happens. There are always airline passengers who ignored the memo.

Everyone on the flight at the very least should sue her.
Maybe no one has thought of it? Or lawyers wont take it.

Even her (false) claim that she really said, “I hope there’s not a bomb in it” would have generated exactly the same response. Not too bright, this one.
Reminds me of the old New Yorker cartoon where the guy yells out to his friend as they board an airliner “Hi Jack!!”
I hope she also said Le Bombe to be fully compliant with all Canadian laws...

The German vernacular for "My bladder's going to burst!" translates to "I'm going to explode!". Throwing his hands up in an explosive gesture probably didn't help.
Regulations being regulations, I don't know how many days, weeks, or months he was in custody.

My brother was on a flight to Manila 4 years ago and some idiot did say that. From what he told me, more than 10 Philippine cops were in the plane and just grabbed the idiot once they landed. O yeah he was screaming etc, but in a 3rd world country, your “rights” are out the door..
