Oh, God, another Asian girl/white boy couple, I groan, dropping my fiancés hand.
He hates it when I do this. So do I, really. I know its unkind and self-loathing, but every time I see another couple of our racial makeup, a little part of me sinks. We live in San Francisco, so this dip is as common as the hills. In these moments, I wish we were anything else ― that he were my gay best friend or we were startup co-founders, that he were Asian and I were white, that we were exquisitely ambiguous races, or that I could sink like my feelings into the sidewalk, be a little worm, and date whomever I want without considering social perception.
Shame is neither the wisest nor most mature part of oneself, but it still has a voice. Stop it you guys! my shame wants to say to these other couples. Cant you see the more of us there are, the worse it looks?
It meaning the prevalent trend of Asian women seeming to end up with white men. It meaning the perpetuation of Asian fetish.
The first time I heard the term Asian fetish, I was the only Chinese kid in a tiny school. Other students in my class had been pairing up to date since fifth grade, exchanging love notes and making each other Alanis Morissette mixtapes. I waited for my Jagged Little Pill cassette, but nothing came in fifth grade. Or sixth. Or seventh. Or eighth.

Um...modelling and acting industries would beg to differ:
#19. Every day I think about “race”, the “rat race” on how I’m going to take care of my family, and I’m winning that race despite hurdles.
This woman should either grow up or break up. Probably both!
That is one crazy, messed up, stupid girl.
I hope the guy get away quickly, or that hes also a crazy SJW and is miserable.
She’s not Asian, she’s a Banana.
Waking up and going to work sidestepping piss and shit ... your eyes assaulted with queerism, your ears subject to the girly voices of a males ...
All of thast really DOES grate against normal spirit levels.....and Asian women are traditionaly traditional ... it's in their DNA.
Leave SF, get rid of the girly man millenial metro, and ask God to lead you.
But by all means, leave san fran sicko !
I read this 10,000 word article. Allow me to boil it down to its condensed form.
Lets talk about me.
That would be the cabin crew of the Asiana Airlines flight that you are thinking of ---
Sum Ting Wong
Wi Tu Lo
Ho Lee Fook
Bang Ding Ow
Half of the staff of the TV station was fired, as I recall.
Probably both born in the deep South before 1950, is my guess.
A local man was pushing 40 and still hadn't found his intended yet.
He was an engineer, made more than enough to support a non-working wife and kids, and had always dreamed of a family like the one he grew up in, where Dad worked fulltime, and Mom stayed home fulltime or at least until all the kids were school-age and then perhaps got a parttime job, becoming fulltime when the kids were grown.
He had an active dating life, and must have been a really nice guy, seeing as how all his ex-es were still his friends. But none of them shared his dream.
Yes, they would have married him, but they'd all bought into the feminist "have your cake & eat it too" - ie *both* fulltime career *and* fulfilling motherhod experience.
This translated to: Keep their own fulltime career intact, take a few weeks or a month or so off for the birth of the first & only baby, then use some of that huge double-income to hire a cheap live-in nanny. And never forget that lack of quantity-time with your children can always be fully compensated for by tiny amounts of high-quality-time funded by $$.
As he approached 40, he despaired of finding his lifetime mate, and looked into a service advertising Ukranian Brides. These were women who were willing to give up their homeland and language and take a big chance overseas, because of the poverty & instability & disruption in their home countries, not to mention high rates of alcoholism among young single males and high odds of spousal abuse.
They had the same dream for what a family should look like as this American engineer did, which was what the US as a whole once did pre-1960s.
So they met via VHS tapes at first, then via phone calls, then finally a trip by the American to Ukraine. That's when their engagement was made official.
The cameras followed him and then her around, showing how the dating service followed up by helping the bride-to-be travel to Denver and become accustomed to her new surroundings. A previous bride from Ukraine who had moved to Denver earlier as part of this same program, quickly became her mentor and friend.
At the very end, the TV station cameraman quietly moved among the tables at the reception. I thought it was very telling, and very sad & poignant, when he recorded part of the conversation of some of the groom's ex-GF's. They were asking, "What does he see in her that he didn't see in us? What's so wrong with us?"
They just didn't get it!
Every commercial on television features a black husband and a white wife, or so it seems. Look for it.
Interracial marriage is hardly unusual today.
If I didn’t say it I could have.
This fool gad better run for his life ASAP because this Asian chick is poison, and mentally ill.
“Whachoo talkin’ about? Two weeks ago you were riding a zebra!”
“Every commercial on television features a black husband and a white wife, or so it seems. Look for it.”
While interracial marriage is more common, I think those commercials are trying to reverse the trend that I see (white guy, black woman).
That is hysterical! Thank you!
Good chart. I may have to “appropriate” that.
