100 Years Later, Dearborn Confronts the Hate of Hometown Hero Henry Ford

Henry Ford was peaking as a global celebrity at the conclusion of World War I, having introduced the $5 workday, assembly line and Model T -- revolutionary changes that transformed the way people lived. Reporters staked out the gates of his Fair Lane mansion. Ford loved the limelight and he constantly made news, even running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan as a Democrat in 1918. He narrowly lost.

In the midst of his fame, Ford became a media mogul of sorts, forming the Dearborn Publishing Company and purchasing the sleepy Dearborn Independent weekly newspaper, which was dying of red ink. He published the paper under his name for the first time 100 years ago, in January 1919. Under Ford, the Independent became notorious for its unprecedented attacks on Jews. But Ford’s anti-Semitism traveled far beyond the Dearborn borders. Showing the marketing expertise that had catapulted Ford Motor into one of the world's most famous brands, Henry Ford's lieutenants vastly widened the reach of his attacks by packaging the paper’s anti-Semitic content into four books. Experts say "The International Jew," distributed across Europe and North America during the rise of fascism in the 1920s and 30s, influenced some of the future rulers of Nazi Germany.

In 1931, two years before he became the German chancellor, Adolf Hitler gave an interview to a Detroit News reporter in his Munich office, which featured a large portrait of Ford over the desk of the future führer. The reporter asked about the photo.

"I regard Henry Ford as my inspiration,” Hitler told the News.

This article is a fascinating look at the antisemitism of Henry Ford. We will never know for certain how Ford came to to be afflicted by his deranged hate until judgment day. Was is Jewish bankers who did not loan him money, or did give him loans at exorbitant rates? Was Ford fighting Jewish union leaders? Did Ford have relatives in countries fighting perceived Jewish Bolshevism? Who knows? One thing we do know is that the likes of Ford, Hitler, the Czars, etc. fulfill the prophesies of Moses in Deuteronomy 28. The mystery of antisemitism affliction lives on throughout the entire Islamic World and continues to foment!

My problem with the article is that author, Bill McGraw, fails to equate "white nationalism" and "Jew Hatred" with the political party that gave us the Civil War, Slavery Support, Segregation, and the KKK, and much of western Jew hatred today. As I write this, leftist Democratic leaders in Congress carry on this tradition and affliction, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. These congresswomen promote a fervent anti-Israel agenda in Congress!

On college campuses throughout the United States and most of the western world this affliction is epidemic! Jewish students are targeted not by lunatic neo-Nazis, but by coalitions of so called aggrieved fellow minority groups and left wing whites who single them out for hate and contempt. At the funeral of Aretha Franklin, seated prominently onstage were Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Louis Farrakhan (the acknowledged premier anti-Semite in America today!). Not to mention the so called "women's march" was led by four women, 3 of them who endorse anti-Semitism, Tamika Mallory, Carmen Perez and Linda Sarsour.

The Bible clearly reveals that the mystery affliction of anti-semitism will continue and culminate in a world-wide attack on Israel and the Jews. It is at that point that the Jewish Messiah will return and expose this mystery, destroying all those afflicted by it. That day may be soon!

We appreciate the political nation of “Israel” because we consider them an ally; however that relationship is full problems, and I think they spy on us and betray us all the time. I have no doubt that they are a major impediment in the US dealing with Arabs on our own terms.

Victor Ostrovsky has two books which prove they were only sometimes our friend.

While this may have been ordinary in some circles, I do not believe it was at the national level. Ford received condemnation nationwide for his publications and gifts from "der fuhrer". Conservative Christian America certainly did not support this anti-semitism and conspiracy...

Henry Ford’s antisemitism was no different from the antisemitism harbored by many or most white Dearbornites (and white Americans) at the time. Ford just happened to own a newspaper. Wasn’t Chrysler a Jewish firm? I want to think it was. Many of the big banks were run by Jewish partners. I frankly don’t know why there is so much hate for the Jews. Mystifying.

I suspect you are right. But that Hitler quote as posted in the excerpt, indicating Hitler considered Ford an inspiration is taken way way out of context. It adds no credibility to this article.

Hitler admired Ford for his business acumen. Hitler used many of the same business ideas Ford implemented as Hitler began modernizing Nazi Germany.
