A bug in FaceTime lets you listen in to the audio if you try to call someone -- even if they don't pick up.
You first video call someone then try to add yourself to the group call.
The FaceTime bug seems to be a huge privacy problem.

A Bay Area family was terrified by a warning of a nuclear attack broadcasting from her security camera, but it turned out to be nothing but a hoax.
Orinda resident Laura Lyons told The East Bay Times that she heard a loud noise similar to what you'd hear during an emergency alert coming from her Nest camera, and then she heard a message that warned North Korean missiles were headed to Los Angeles, Chicago and Ohio.
Lyons said the message sent her, her husband and their 8-year-old son into a panic, according to the East Bay Times.
"We need to get in the car, we need to grab the dog, I wish we had more cash, which direction should we drive?," Lyons described her thought process at that moment to the newspaper.
If you have an iPhone or iPad you have it.
According to the article of they decline you can get video but not audio.
This has to be one of the worst possible bugs ever. Nothing needed to execute it just the app.
Wheres that Captain Hyperbole meme...
Hmmn, she lives in the SF Bay Area, and hears a warning of NK missiles headed to Los Angeles, Chicago and Ohio. I would immediately dismiss it as a hoax, as missiles would first hit Hawaii and SF long before a warning of other far-away targets. Anyway, Nest cameras are a real problem as no actions are needed to have spies listening in on your family.
We use FaceTime a lot (grandchildren calling us), and aren't worried about this issue. As a side note, I often get calls from relatives unaware that they accidentally triggered a call from their cellphone, and I hear their conversations for a while before I hang up the phone (usually they're in a car and sit on their cellphone and trigger a call).
Thanks for the update and clarification.
Bkmrk FACETIME
Cool. I can FaceTime this girl I wanted to ask out. Then I can listen to her all day long. [Just kidding.]
Thanks for reminding me to turn off FaceTime on the iPads too. Even my kids have them.
Maybe they should have called it "FacePalm" instead of "FaceTime".
You know there is more sophisticated software used by Intel for govt and big business around the world that can spy on you without your phone even ringing.
My first thought is it is the perfect tool for the anti-christ to use to find and kill Christians.
Prepare to go off grid.
Is Deep State around world the anti-christ force? Much of the media and entertainment is demon possessed, why not Deep State?
You had to get your bogus all initiated before they did either for it to work at all. . . Now with the FaceTime group server turned off it wont work at all.
Does your post mean that only Group FaceTime has been de activated? Or is the whole FaceTime server off until a patch is found?
lol..idiot. Stuck on a Bay Area freeway during a nuclear attack is the last place I want to be.
Yep... Among several other “features”.
That’s why I quickly turned off FaceTime functionality on my iPad Pro and iPhone X post haste.
Either way this sure won’t help Apple fix this problem: https://www.apnews.com/c281923e5ab14348a7dd673cee7e661e
Merciful Maude.
I’ve an IPhone.
And a tablet.
Does an App have to be downloaded or something?
Oh, poop.
