Elliott finally receiving an Oscar is the only thing I care about from this Hollywerd self-pleasuring session. He should have been recognized a long time ago. He is brilliant anytime he puts on a uniform whether as General Buford from "Gettysburg" or Sergeant Major Plumley from "We Were Soldiers".

Worrying about who gets Oscar nominations is about the last thing on my mind.

A 50 year career? Never heard of him.
And playing in another remake of a Hollywood remake?
Nothing to see here folks. Move along.

My dad was a retired Infantry CSM. I like to think when he was in uniform he was a lot like CSM Plumley.

Oscar? He’s played the same character in every movie he’s ever been in.

That mustache gets a bath after every meal. So does my handlebar. Wonder if he’s got any wildlife living in it?

I love the
Googie-mode decor in the bowling alley; it formed the motif for the whole movie.

I’ve always like watching Sam Elliot in movies. It’s gotten to where the filmmakers can probably read a scripts and say “Oh, that’s a Sam Elliot part”. However, I don’t think his performances are necessarily Oscar-caliber.

"A 50 year career? Never heard of him."
You may not remember hearing of him but I guarantee you've heard him. He does an incredible amount of commercial voice over work. He's got that southern drawl that just pulls you in. He's primarily a character actor so I bet you seen him act before you just aren't putting his name with his face
