A Danville couple is questioning the vetting process of walkers hired through a popular dog-walking app after home video appears to capture a man kicking and whipping their family pet.
What makes them worry even more is that the on-demand dog-walking service, Wag!, only conducts background checks on applicants once before they are hired and does not do continuous checks. The dog-walking app has no relation to Wag Hotels.

Also, the owners shouldn't blame the company (Wag!) solely. Did they even read the reviews of this moron before they chose him to watch their dogs?
I can see having a walker or using a kennel if you are going on travel and cant bring the dog, but...really? What’s the point of having a dog if you’re just going to pawn the care of it off on some stranger?
I took our 11 month old puppy to our local dog park this morning. There were six dogs there when we arrived. When we left, three “professional” dog walkers had arrived bringing 17 dogs among them for a total of 24 dogs there. We left. They totally ruined it. Second time this has happened.
Put him in a pen with 10 hungry pit bulls.

Reminds me of Elton John and his gay partner ‘having a baby’ and pawning off its care 24/7 on a nanny.

Perhaps the type of clientele who pay dog walkers can also afford expensive breeds of dogs. Part of their appearance in maintaining status.

I don’t understand that either, BUT - my sister has her own service caring for cats and dogs via word of mouth and she is never at a loss for customers.
She usually has 3-4 pets to care for on any given weekend, though she’s not walking the same dogs every day of the week.
It could be worse. At least it wasn't a child pawned off on some stranger.
Oh I'd love to see them try that with my furbabies. First he would deal with them, and then he would deal with me.
Yes, the same question applies.
Sugar Plum, no one does "continuous checks" on their employees. No, not even the FBI. They only do a check every five years. There is a reason. A minimal background check cost three to five hundred dollars.
Their expectations are unrealistic.

It’s worse when they do it to their kids.
Hahaha, nice. I see your German Shepard going in for the cheap shot on your Swiss Shepard
Dey call dat one da “Hamstring”!
People have jobs. They walk their dogs in the morning and evening but hire a dog walker to do the necessary during the midday period. The dog walkers also cover during various out of town trips. Around here, it seems to be mostly stay at home moms who pick this up.for a little cash and a reason to get out in the afternoons. My daughter dog walked for a neighbor when she was in middle school. She had to get home from school pronto and go right out, but she sure liked being the richest kid in 8th grade. Those neighbors, like most, did the morning and night walks and I think were very glad to have some relief from what had become a tedious, unwanted chore with a lethargic older dog.
Funny thing though David Brown (53) does live here in Danville, but Miranda Fulks is 24 and lives 14 miles away in Pittsburg.
