CBS' long-running series Criminal Minds is on its way out.
The network has renewed the cop drama, a relatively reliable performer for CBS, for a 15th and final season. The upcoming season will be 10 episodes long and will be shot on the heels of the current season.
By the time it wraps, Criminal Minds will have completed 325 episodes, making it one of the longest running TV dramas. The crime series, which is show-run by executive producer Erica Messer, follows an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country's most twisted criminal minds, attempting to anticipate their next moves before they strike again.
Created by Jeff Davis, Criminal Minds is also executive produced by Mark Gordon and Breen Frazier. Stars on the show include Joe Mantegna, Paget Brewster, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez and Daniel Henney. ABC Studios produces in association with CBS Television Studios.
Criminal Minds suffered a bout of controversies in recent years. In 2016, actor Thomas Gibson was fired from the show after 11 seasons following an on-set altercation with a producer. And more recently, Variety reported that that the series' longtime director of photography Greg St. Johns was allowed to remain in his job despite allegations of abusive behavior and a subsequent investigation by the state of California into the claims.
Messer, for her part, has a pod deal with ABC Studios, where she will continue to create original dramas under her Erica Messer Productions banner.
If you do not count 60 Minutes, Meet the Press, The Simpsons and daytime soaps.
Finally ran out of turds they thought they could polish, eh?
This show was a case in point, it was interesting for a few seasons, then first the cases became increasingly shocking, followed by too much focus on the personal aspects of the characters.
we stopped watching years ago and to be honest I did not know it was still on the air.
Criminal Minds has always stunk out loud. Im astounded it got past the pilot episode.
I gave up on CM several seasons ago. Each case seemed to try to be more grotesque than the previous case.
And the Emily Prentiss, Secret Agent, who got killed and came back didn’t help.
Sadly...real criminal minds never end.

CSI shows
I like comedies and not these dreary shows.
I like to laugh and be entertain when I watch a show.
I get enough of real life by living it and or reading about it in the news.
Joe Mantegna is a wonderful actor and a great guy. Nice run.
I like him better as "Fat Tony"
Don’t worry. The longest running show of “criminal minds” is the US Congress and its still going strong. Also, it should now have a spin-off show entitled “Insane Minds: The US Congress in 2019”.
Take two Prozac and call your Congressthing in the morning.
bump
Fifteen seasons and I’ve never watched a single episode.
That would have been unthinkable in my youth.
There is a show on Netflix called “Mind Hunters”. Is about the initial development of the FBI’s behaviorial unit learning about on serial killers. Pretty sick and graphic in spots, but pretty interesting.
The killers they interview are played by actors that are spitting images of the actual killers. They use transcripts of the taped interviews for most of the script during the show’s interview sessions.
“I can’t be certain - but I think I’m this way because of my mother. A mother should never denigrate her son.” (Or something like that.)
Good TV shows have a lifespan of 3-5 years (there are exceptions)
Yes, Perry Mason an example.
A current show that I believe would fall into that category would be: Blue Bloods. It has now been on since 2010 and I think still stays pretty much on point. Although they have departed somewhat in the last two seasons with the marriage of two main characters.
I tried a couple of times; found it too disturbing. I want to be entertained, not repulsed.
Most if not all of the crime dramas exist to stoke the belief that....fill in the blank.... law enforcement agencies are busily catching bad guys, and are all powerful. In truth, the FBI entices and prods people into committing crimes, then they make a bust. Another hard truth is, the cases of hard core mass murderers are few and far between. The FBI really exists to service itself, do background checks on Federal Government employees, and justify its massive budget.
Yes, interesting until Mandy Patinkin suddenly quit with no notice.
Apparently he, too, was disgusted with the show. Never as good since.
Criminal Minds is too dark for my taste.
Blue Bloods in very consistent, with the exception of the uncerimonious death of Dannys wife, Linda.
All she says is that her contract was not renewed. I got the impression that the show was a bit too conservative for her and she chose to leave. But who knows.
I love Blue Bloods.
