Just read the sentence again. Fake News!

*IF* President Donald Trump reneges on his demand for funding for his border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, it will likely spell “the end of his presidency,” U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham said Wednesday on Fox News.

I'll NEVER trust Linda, but s/he seems to be saying that *IF* PDJT caves, supporters will leave him.

He won't cave.

Lindsey Graham is right. If Trump caves, he is effectively done. Pelosi will ride him like her b*tch for the next two years and he can forget his reelection. This is a pivotal moment.

Interesting how Lindsey appears to leave Trump high and dry.

Someone joins Coulter in telling the
truth and immediately the attacks begin.

If he caves on the wall he will not be re-elected, how is that leaving Trump behind? It is just stating a fact.

I don’t care how long the shutdown runs. I just think the pressure will finally get to Trump. Especially when the Republican leadership starts whining in 3-2-1.

Find the wall Lindsey ?
When are you crooks going to start funding our government.
You are only running a trillion short every year.

Sadly I think you are correct. The House and the Senate will come up with something, The Donald will promise veto in Kabuki theater reminiscent of the previous over bloated budget he will then sign it and it will sine die.

Mr. Trump was the last best chance we have had in stopping the rapidly increasing velocity towards becoming yet another failed socialist state.

I don’t know.

I’ve seen FReepers say as much as the same thing.

“If Trump renegs, I’ll not vote for him in 2020.”

“He’s done. He’s toast.” “Wall or he’s OUT!”

Stuff like that. Graham is saying what a lot of Freepers think.

Well, I’m not sure the two things mesh under the same logic. It’s very hard, if not outright impossible, to predict the future, but that doesn’t stop just about everyone from attempting it.

There is always a gap between what you want to do and are trying to do and what is possible for you to do. There were many, many impeachment traps being sprung on Trump in the first year of his term and he could have easily been removed by the Bush-Type Republicans (easily the majority of that party) if he didn’t show them some sense of loyalty and discretion on what he attempted to do. They hated his guts as much as the Democrats do, and wanted him removed probably even more than Democrats did.

That time has probably passed and he’s likely to be freer in his actions now than he has been before. What that means, I don’t know. A president has limited powers when the society is split in half and government structure and class despises him as a highly undesirable invader on their turf. Any actions such as those you suggest would have been stopped by the government - either through the judiciary, the rogue DOJ, or simply the people responsible for implementation not doing what the president orders.

You are seeing the limits of power when you have a rebellion that must have the support of the people. It’s not there in this country at this time. The country is split and it’s not going to be repaired. That limits everyone’s actions until such a time as a real “divorce” occurs in some manner.

That said, Trump is in a position now that allows him to hold the line. He has an opposition now that bears some responsibility for what happens. That changes the equation greatly as Trump isn’t just fighting his own party...the other party is fighting his nominal party too. Perhaps we will all be surprised by how firm he can be.

Not this FReeper. Trump is and has done everything he can short of a kamikaze maneuver that would result in his being totally isolated and ignored, or removed before anything could be accomplished. I would hope there are enough other FReepers that understand that. I mean, what is the alternative? Go back and see if Jeb is still interested in the job?

I’m still voting for Trump, wall or not. Everyone sees who is doing the obstructing. Trump is doing everything he can. Maybe it’s the dems that will be out of power for NOT securing our border with a wall. I’m sick of people saying this.

“Keep pushing it through, Mr. Trump. Most of us support it very strongly.”

The GoFundMe page to fund the wall has collected nearly $20 million in just over 2 weeks, despite the MSM putting a negative spin on it, saying the government can’t use money collected by citizens earmarked for special projects.

I still have confidence that Trump will stand firm on this. He does not need the government running as much as Democrats do - most of the government workers are unionized Democrats, and they'll be letting the House Democrats hear it.

Trump is a smart man, and he prides himself on being strong. He can't give in on his signature campaign issue and he knows it. He also has backers in the Senate such as Graham. Let's keep our fingers crossed - hopefully 2019 sees funding for a wall, or Trump funds it from the military budget or something - but wall construction must begin.

At least Trump will go down fighting. I don’t know how much more crap he can take from both sides and the media before giving them all a big FU. Someone ought to tell Lindsay that if they take out Trump they can forget about his base ever pulling another lever for the republicans. It is they who will become extinct.
