Didn’t they come out with a female Doctor? Havent followed it since 4 years ago or so.
Well done, Steven Moffat. Making “The Curse of Fatal Death” (a parody) writ large over the reboot series backfired on you, didn’t it.
It was an ok episode. The first several episodes were full of PC and SJW propaganda, practically unwatchable. Get woke, go broke....
I get that a lot of people don’t like the female Doctor, but how long can the show be expected to last and still be good quality? I hve not watched in since I was in college in the mid to late 1970’s. Shouldn’t it be suffering from terminal jumping of the shark by now?
Its not the female doctor its the writing, its gone full SJW propaganda. Last episode I watched featured white people helping poor Rosa Parks refuse to move to the back of the bus. Everybody knows black people cant do anything without white people helping./s
I have a Tom Baker 4th Doctor scarf. It’s 12 feet long. Every time I wear it, I get positive comments, even from those who have never heard of Doctor Who.
Of course it has...
The gender bending nonsense was a cheap pandering to get press... but the writing has been even worse than it was before this little pandering fiasco.
So, true to form, get a big pop for the press around now the doctor is a woman, and the feministas who really never liked DR WHO anyway, will drain away after their SJW group think wears off, and you will be left with the true audience who has been shrinking not because the doctor has a penis, but because the WRITING has been CRAP and getting crappier for a long long time now...
So instead of actually fixing the problem, which is poor writing, you just gender bend it and then put even worse writing in place full of PC crapola, and you wind up with the ratings at, and when its all said and done, even BELOW where it was before you pulled the little stupid PC stunt... because the new “attracted” viewers by the gender bending were never going to stick around, and the core audience saw right through your nonsense, and doesn’t tune in to be lectured about whatever stupid left wing garbage cause dejure they want to opine about this week, ....
Last Season was ABYSMAL... this season is even worse... Last season we were forced to deal with a completely unrelatable companion, but hey she was a black lesbian, so ooo aren’t we all woke.... Doesn’t matter that the COMPANION is the most critical person to the Dr Who Dynamic... and the writing was in continual decline as well.
This year they just further double down on the nonsense. The writing is even poorer, and more preachy, and while I don’t blame the actors(resses) they are doing what they are asked to do, the reality is, a cheap pandering, particularly to a group of people who DON’T WATCH YOUR SHOW AND NEVER HAVE, is a STUPID move.
These girls/women all clamoring its time for a female time lord... when in fact any real fan of the show knows there had been some already... They had already gender bent the Master... and the Doctor’s daughter.. and has always had female leads that were more than capable... The whole thing was just stupid.. These women were NEVER going to watch the show, other than the OOO its a woman doctor... they would tune in for a week or two and go away because they had NEVER watched it before.. and didn’t like sci fi.. etc.
The reality is, had they actually fixed the UNDERLYING problem, which was piss poor and every worse WRITING, a cheap pandering might have helped boost things, but when you just offer the pandering, but don’t address the underlying problem and DOUBLE DOWN on things that are detrimental to the show, you wind up in the crap.
I am sure the fact it was a New Years special instead of a Christmas Special this year, probably didn’t help either.
I quit watching when I found myself rooting for the guys with the toilet plungers.
Brit film, Mary Queen of Scots:
It’s the year 1550 but the Queen’s inner court has asian and black people all over the place.
Gay activity..?
Yes, there’s that, too.
Isn’t that nice..?
Dont worry. Itll get better with the tranny, black Muslim Doctor.
Calling Michelle!
I’m not sure people watch TV as much on new years, but how would I know what british people are doing with their hangovers?
The story was kind of stupid, like I can’t figure out how the Doctor would NOT have known that a dalek nearly defeated the world, and was chopped up into 3 pieces, and buried with 24/7 watchers for centuries. That doesn’t seem like the kind of thing the savior of earth would have overlooked.
I’ve never watched the series, but checked the UK listings because I thought perhaps the reason for the low viewership yesterday was because the first episode of the final season of “Luther” with Idris Alba aired, but Dr. Who was on at 7 p.m. (UK time), and Luther wasn’t on until 9 p.m.
Hard to believe that there are 5.15 million scifi fans dumb enough to even tune to the channel this PC travesty is on!
A couple of observations from a guy who wore his Dalek t-shirt and drank from his Dr. Who coffee mug on New Year’s Day...
I know it is tradition to hate the new Doctor while pining for the previous one, but I never warmed to Capaldi and Whittaker is worse. Not that she isn’t a fine actress, but I don’t buy that her character has been male for centuries and now finds himself living as a woman. Until Capaldi, I could always see a bit of the previous Doctor in the present one. I saw no Matt Smith in Capaldi and I see none of the previous Doctors in Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor portrayal.
The SJW crap of this season has been heavy handed and changed Doctor Who from “gotta see it” to “maybe if I get around to it” for me.
The 3 companion bit is not working. Besides the just general confusion it brings and distracts from the story line, did they have to have a gay Muslim woman, a disabled young black man, and an old white guy who goes about being perpetually confused?
Moving the Christmas Special to a New Year’s Day Special smacks of lefties not being comfortable with the subtle religious overtones and at least secular veneration of the previous Christmas Specials. This one was so bad that you could tell that it had been written as a Christmas special and then they had gone back and drawn a line through Christmas and written in New Years every time it appeared in the script. The story had some minor plot points regarding how understaffed particular agencies were because of New Years, but it could have just as easily been because of Christmas, or Boxing Day, or the Queen’s birthday.
SPOILERS (not so much if you have read anything about this episode)
Bringing back the Daleks (or more accurately, one really old, pitiful Dalek) was not the kind of earth shattering revelation, or a major advancing of an over arching plot, we have come to expect from these special episodes. It was drawn out, disappointing and derivative of many other science fiction story lines - ancient enemy unearthed, alien taking a human host, authorities unable/unwilling to believe the heroes that an alien attack was imminent...been there, done that, lots of times.
Overall, really sad. As much of a fan that I am, I find myself hoping that the 13th Doctor is the end of the line.
"Get 'WOKE' = go BROKE!"
All of the MILLIONS of now former die-hard Who fans couldn't care less.
All they had to do was bring back Ramona, a legitimate female Time Lord.
