I'm a Federal Employee:
self

Posted on 12/22/2018 8:10:58 AM PST by Java4Jay

There are essential and non-essential federal employees. During a shutdown the non-essential do not report to work while the essential MUST or risk termination. Neither group receives pay while the shutdown is in effect. When it's all settled and everyone gets their back pay, the non-essential group received paid days off while the ones that were required to report for duty got shafted.

How did you get shafted? You get paid for doing your job. Are you working today? Tomorrow? Monday? Christmas?

How about next week Wednesday. Or Thursday? Or Friday?

You got shafted. Give me a break.

All affected should see the nearest illegals for what you’ve lost. Would you accept the immediate elimination of ALL federal benefits to illegals to fund your salaries? Invalidated EBT cards, housing vouchers, aid to children can be done can’t it? Would the moaning federal employees favor that? No? Then get right- back Trump-demand a wall!

Why would non essentials have to look for a job? They are being furloughed with back pay at this point. Unless you were scheduled to work today, Sunday, Monday, or Tues. it wouldn’t matter anyway.

I think you need to shift to being non-essential. You get extra paid vacations.

When I worked for the federal government, I was essential, too.

You’ve got a job. You’re getting paid.

DOD folks aren’t affected. We already have a budget and are still getting paid. This shutdown affects pretty much everyone else.

the ones that were required to report for duty got shafted.

In what way? Didn't get paid? Got paid but had to work while the others got paid and didn't have to work? Other?

They do NOT get paid during the shut down and do NOT get back pay. Rather tough at Christmas time.

In the private sector letting non essential employees go is called a lay off. In the rare event they are re hired they dont get back pay for the time they werent working because they werent working. Why would an employee who is not essential have a job in the first place?

Why do we even have non-essential federal employees?

Any one deemed “non essential” should be “non employed” by FedGov.

Neil Cavuto just reported that most people don’t even know there is partial shut down.

To whom are you referring? All federal workers get back pay, both essential and non-essential, after the budget is passed.

I’m pretty sure those “essential” employees (bwahaha) are not getting paid only if they are in the few still-unfunded sections of the government.

And the only way such “essential” employees get shafted is if you consider having to show up for the days you get paid to be unfair.

The next federal pay day, as I understand it isn’t until January anyway. It is extremely unlikely the shutdown would go that long, but if it did the only risk would be those in the nonfunded sections of the government getting paid a little late on a single pay cycle.

Don’t quit first. It is always easier to find a job when you have a job.

Exactly what is a non-essential employee? What are their job titles? Are they F/T or P/T?
