How can the gov’t refuse to pay for time worked? Isn’t that illegal, even for the gov’t?
Every shutdown in recent memory, employees were given back pay. I think the ones that are negatively impacted are contractors working in government agencies but not actual GS employees.

EVERY report I have ever read about what follows a shutdown & full operations has stated that those who were NOT at their desks got their back pay-—for NOT working.
Exactly the opposite of how it should be, IMO. Essential employees should get back pay, while non-essentials should not.

Boo-hoo! If federal employees don’t have a personal emergency fund to weather a stretch of hard times, it’s their own damn fault. Stop eating out everyday and don’t buy a new car with $500 monthly payments for 84 months.
