If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
Wait a minute...I just started the 12.1.1 update on my iPad! Maybe I should not install after the D/L.....hummmmm.
When are they going to address the battery draining issues that the last update cause Drama???
Anyone getting all sorts of annoying “you have been selected to win a gift card” pop ups on Safari since their last iPhone update/
I accidentally messed up my wife’s iPhone. I made a short video of her and a friend, then put it in my pocket without turning it off.
Now her email is not there. It’s an hername@gmail address.
I click on the mail icon and it says “Welcome to Mail”
Then below that, there is a list:
iCloud
Exchange
Google
YAHOO
Aol.
Outlook.com
Other
I can send test emails from my Mac to her tablet, which has the same email address as her phone.
On her apps, there is an icon with a large M that says Gmail under it. It works, but the address is hername9@gmail, so she doesn’t use it.
Thanks for any help. :)
I get these pop ups all the time especially off sites click links like dredge and facebook. You would think that Apple would have a work around to stop these pop up. You wonder what the folks who program this spam can see on your phone.
That is very troubling.
Do you have her phone backed up either on your computer or iCloud? I think if you accidentally trashed her Mail settings, gmail will have all of her mail. Good luck.
But there is a major behind-the-scenes reason why this update was issued today. About a week ago, Qualcomm won a patent victory against Apple in China and obtained an injunction that banned the importing of older iPhone devices ranging from the iPhone 6S through the iPhone X.
Last week, Apple told Reuters that it would push software updates to users as a way to address any possible concern about our compliance with the order.” Qualcomm’s patents are related to photo resizing and application management. So an Apple software update could potentially circumvent the technology covered in those patents.
Apples lawyers have argued that this injunction should be lifted since continuing to sell iPhones do not constitute irreparable harm to Qualcomm. In the injunction reconsideration request, Apple also pointed out that a ban on iPhone sales would impact Chinese suppliers and consumers along with the tax revenue it pays.
yes.
by the dozen...
I got some of those too. . . and investigated them. They are all traced back to an ad in the Google ad rotation which has a multiple page replacement script and no way out except closing the damn browser tab. Its not a Safari issue, and I cant find a way to block it without running an ad blocker. The ad pops in on web pages that wont allow entry with an ad blocker running.
Sounds as if you need to renter your email account information. When you do everything should come back including historic emails youve kept. Check also to assure your AppleID is correct in settings and Mail is activated. I hope this helps.
They can get at nothing. Safari runs in a sandbox which cannot access any user data. . . Just as every other app on an iPhone does. Even your location is kept away from any website unless you allow it in response to a request which will pop up when a website or an ad script wants that info. Unless you know a legitimate reason which meets YOUR needs why a website wants your location information, dont give it.
You assume too much. The Chinese Qualcomm order applied to importing brand new iPhones that come pre-installed with iOS 11 or older. Such Brand new iPhones with iOS 11 dont exist anymore and Apple has not made a new iPhone with iOS 11 pre-installed for over a year. Since they are manufactured in China, it is impossible to import iPhones into China in any case unless they are models that were manufactured in Vietnam, Brazil, or India. . . which would likely be akin to carrying coals to Newcastle. iOS 12.1.2 has NOTHING to do with the Qualcomm lawsuit.
So an Apple software update could potentially circumvent the technology covered in those patents.
This Gordon Kelly, a notorious anti-Apple FUD writer who seldom writes anything positive about Apple, article is pure speculation because there is no compelling reason for Apple to push out an iOS update for iPhones that cannot be affected at all by an import ban that bans the import of no current iPhones into China. The import ban is a ridiculous joke by a Chinese court with limited, local jurisdiction to boot.
The image resizing patent applies only to resizing an image before making it the lock or home screen image.
Found the problem in Settings. Her email got turned off.
