Aquaman will be released to the public in the coming weeks, but the film has already garnered positive reviews from impressed critics.

The superhero film follows the story of Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa), who, as a half-human half-Atlantean, reluctantly assumes the underwater kingdom throne of Atlantis.

Following the movie's world premiere at Leicester Square's Cineworld in London on Monday, critics took to Twitter to describe the film as the 'most ambitious DC movie to date', and praised the leading actor's 'great' performance.

If they are giving it great reviews then it probably has all the right amount of global warming scary stuff in it.

Marvel let us think for one month recently that Namor had killed Stingray.

I say safest because the comic books movies are the main ones making any money for Hollywood. Over the last few years it seems the biggest box office seems to go the the comic book movies. And I generally lump the Star Wars movies into the comic book genre these days.

I just looked it up - in the last three years 5 of the top 10 grossing movies were comic book movies. That’s not including the animated Disney/Pixar type movies which would bump it up to 7 of the to ten if included. Comic book movies are a very safe bet.

The amusing thing here...if you had gauged things with the cartoons and typical stories of the 1960s/1970s....it was zero potential for Aquaman to ever work as a movie.

I think Jason Momoa has taken the character and put a ton of charisma and charm into the guy.

But here’s the thing...Justice League seems to be stalled. Batman has to be reinvented once again....Wonder Woman appears to be the only ‘hot’ item in the DC universe, with a dozen other characters just sitting there and stalled.

Flash? Green Lantern (another reboot possible), Hawkman, Martian Manhunter, Red Tornado, Tomorrow Woman, etc? Tons of potential and just laying there.

If you bring Batgirl into the situation....she has to be some lesbian type, and she’ll have Midget-Giant (the genderless super-hero) as her partner.

"Ambitious".

That's what I look for in a movie. I can't tell you the number of classics I've seen... Casablanca. Smokey and the Bandit. Citizen Kane. Starship Troopers. And every time, I've walked out of the theater saying "Gee, that was ambitious!".

/s

FWIW, "ambitious" is a word I'd use when I needed to be politically correct about something.

And I'm sure his superpowers will be expanded.

Geek mode - ON! I would guess that a man who could withstand the pressures of the deepest ocean and also move swiftly through water at all times would be ridiculously strong and almost invulnerable on the surface. At least invulnerable from blunt forces. So really strong and tough as nails. Just a guess though.

>> There is life in the DC universe. <<

Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill are both gone and the DC universe is dead as a doornail. Rob Zombie's Aquaman ain't good save it.
