A 48-minute YouTube video at the URL.
If you are retired, or within ten years of retirement, this should give you something to think about. I just hope you're not in such a pickle as the average retiree that Pal is pointing to.
I want to retire within a year.
It’s a bit scary, but I’m Okay,
I think financially to
RV Full time for a couple years.
Then Retardment!
>>RV Full time for a couple years.<<
My brother and his wife decided to do this. From what I can tell they are having a great time.
My wife has done a pretty goof job of managing the finances. I am past my target $ for retirement — we will probably retire to Mexico where you can live like a king for $30K a year.
I am just trying to define what “retirement” means. I own my own business so I guess it is when I stop looking for engagements. I plan on SS at age 64 because why not?

You wont last a year in Mexico.

One of the largest Ponzi schemes in history.
Roughly 15 years of solvency remains. Could be shorter if panic sets in and
Asset values fall to pennies on the dollar.
A friend north of us bought a big RV powered by a Ford V-10 motor.
It gets 4 miles to the gallon.
He bought a tiny Chevy crap box car to tow behind.
Both are parked in his barn...
I had a RV from the 80’s with a GM 454 that got 8 miles to the gallon. 27 foot long.
I did not want to hijack This
Thread but 48 minutes of video
Will kill my monthly data.
I will save for Later and hope
You can give a short synopsis.
We did this. We were going strong after 4 years, but our only son had an accident that cut our free time short.
Understand that everyone who full times will stop some day. ( We did not think of this but now I see it as something that is inevitable.)
Also some family members did not like that we were gone so much. (only draw back we noticed.)
Cost was easy to control, and there is much to see and do, especially at winter camp - we went to South TX.
We did not know we would be coming back to the most expensive place to live, but I was asked to come back to work and with the extra income we qualified again for a mortgage. This was pure luck.
Thought about retirement in Costa Rica but this has the same problem of not seeing other family members.
Still I commend your idea.
This could push everyone to vote socialist in the next 10-20 years.
People will feel cheated by government and our financial system - and vote for more of it.
Like I said to my friends when we were in high school (1970-1972) when they worried about the government honoring their US savings bonds: If we live in a world where the US government is unable to honor your mature US savings bonds, that will be the least of your problems.
Our retirement plans are to move to a part of the country where it’s really cheap to live, has low taxes and we pay off our house. And in 2011 we moved from Seattle to a gorgeous farm and woods in south central KY. The annual property taxes are one months payment on a new camry. We already grow our own chickens for eggs and, with 32 acres, already fenced, we can throw in 20 or 15 head of cattle.
I retire in 2020, just before the election. We should have our house and property paid off by then, Lord willing.
>>You wont last a year in Mexico.<<
My wife is from there. She lasted 30 years and we go back about 8 times a year (different places).
I think I will be just fine.
Oh, and I have no pension. It’s all social security. But I made so much that my wife and I are looking at almost 4k a month in 2018 dollars - and there are no taxes. My state is an income tax state, but SS is exempt.
When you own your own home and the property taxes are almost non-existent, you can live pretty comfortably in KY. And it is absolutely beautiful - and a natural place to go if the SHTF. We have two streams and ample solar and wind power generation if necessary.
My wife and I really enjoyed “About Schmidt”.
Amen to that, Lurker man. Amen to that.
To live in Mexico is to expect a major lifestyle change. Those low rent places are very small.
I’m a single Guy,
No chains to speak of.
It’s a shame You and the
Wife can’t go to the same Place!
If we stop the damn illegals from costing us a fortune in costs from welfare to foodstamps to more roads to more schools to more hospitals to more prisons to more Court officials, to increases in car insurance and every other type of insureance etc etc etc etc we would HAVE THE MONEY TO TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN.
WE WOULD HAVE THE MONEY TO TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN IF WE STOPPED WASTING OUR TREASURE BY ALLOWING DEMOCRATS TO USE ILLEGALS TO PROP UP THEIR CORRUPT WHITE LIBERAL ELITES.
SEND ILLEGALS BACK TO WHERE THEY CAME FROM
AMERICAN FOR AMERICANS...
