ATTENTION all Freepers: OK, this happens every election year. Someone posts a “here’s how my precinct is turning out” post. Thank you. But it does us election junkies no good if the replies/responses do not give specific information. For example: “We had a big line in eastern Ohio today.” Does NOTHING. “There was a large line in my precinct in Small City, Ohio. This is a very red precinct that voted 80/20 for Trump. Usually, there is no line. This morning, there were 85 people in line who were older, white, and did not smell of weed.” Gives us junkies useful information. So please, post away. But give us specific information—good OR bad!!! Thanks.
I voted in my suburban district in Tidewater Virginia (York County) around 8:30; polls opened at 6:00 am and I was voter #520, if I recall correctly. Line was out the door at the polling place—not as long as 2016, but close. Parking lot was full, and cars parked along the roadside for about 1/8 of a mile.
My area is solidly Republican. Good sign for the incumbent GOP Congressman, Scott Taylor
Same here Cleveland suburb voted around 10 and there was a fair line. Normally that time of day its nearly empty. Got my haircut and the gal said she voted at 6:30 this morning in Cuyahiga county - said it was almost empty. Could be a good sign for us if Cuyahoga doesnt turn out. However there was a lot - lot of early voting.
I live in North Jersey and haven’t been to the polls yet. Will go about 7:00 tonight. Hoping for big turnout. My town is very conservative especially for NJ. We have a gun range and gun club. The town puts up a manger at Christmas - on municipal property in the center of town. Trump town.
trying to anticipate election results based on the lines in one (or many, for that matter) polling place at one moment in time is guaranteed to end in disappointment.
guaranteed.
I’m in the Poconos, in Eastern Pennsylvania.
It’s pouring rain here (after raining all day yesterday) and I’ve NEVER seen floods like this. The ditches are overflowing and the roads are flooding out.
And the Firehouse (where we vote) was actually crowded. The woman working the table said it was a greater turnout than election day 2016.
I don’t know what that means, but it sure is unusual.
Anyway... I did my duty and crawled back home, whimpering and hoping for some kind of arc to come and save us from all this frigging water.
Who'd you vote for? Biden?
jk.
My suburb typically votes conservative
bttt
A lot of voters were in line here at my polling place GA/06. The wait was about 45 minutes,/and the line was only about 20% white male. There were only six machines, so that was a part of the delay. There was a disproportionate amount of black and college age voters in the line.
Most of all/ the solid red Trump voters I know voted early, which may be the reason for the lower than average for white males.
My fear is that Abrams is turning out the black vote.
Maybe so, but there was more than usual attendance at my voting place in 2010, and I wasn't disappointed.
The motivation level today seems to be higher than it was then.
You should’ve seen Brooklyn, NY Nov 2007.... now that, sadly, was the busiest I’ve ever seen.
He was at Katies on 6th and Union.
Drove past my polling location this morning, and the parking lot was full at 7:10am. Very conservative area of Bama.
Nice!
My guess is that the long lines for a lot of those posting here simply means that the GOP is coming out to the polls today. We don have some sissy GOP president who doesnt know how to fire up the base!!
Ive heard from a number of typically Republican precincts around Iowa. Unusually large numbers of people voting early compared to past off-years everywhere.
Totals may not be eye-popping by the end of the day, but a fabulous early start.
ML/NJ
Upstate NY - Rochester Suburb - Nice long line. I was 375 at 9:30
Big turn out here about thirty miles northeast of San Francisco.
Unfortunately, it’s prog heavy due to local issues on the ballot.
(They are fighting a cement plant)
