vanity - Sorry Rush, but you are wrong.

Today rush said, and I quote:

"GOP Must Confirm Kavanaugh or Kiss Midterms Goodbye"

Sep 24, 2018

RUSH: "If Grassley doesn’t get a handle on this and just do — and I’ll tell you something else, which everybody also knows. If the Republicans do not get this vote taken and have Kavanaugh confirmed, you can kiss the midterms goodbye."

I disagree, Rush, we are not going to punish President Trump because of Squish Grassley's cowardice, Susan Collins hatred of the President or any other RINO action.

Sir, we are going to go vote, we are going to give the President a super majority so that the likes of Squish Grassley and Baby in the womb hating RINO Collins will no longer be able to threaten him with their vote.

Said I disagree with Rush on the other thread. If Kavanaugh doesn’t get confirmed, it will make conservatives angry enough to get out a red wave of GOP votes to send a message to the demonrats thinking of pulling this bs again.

Just call me straight ticket bgill for now on.

In many states Republican FReepers are too busy complaining on line to the choir to go next door and convine their friends, neighbors and strangers to vote.

New Gallup - admittedly covering only up to Sept 12th measured favorably feels toward Republicans and Democrats and found favorably rating toward Republicans ahead of that for Democrats for first time since Jan 2011 - 45/44. But the better news is that Republicans plus Republican leaning Independents is at 85% compared to Democrat’s 80% which has not moved in a year. This is a measure of enthusiasm no matter how Gallup tried to down play it and mumbo jumbo talk it away.

Rush ticked me off today too with his stupid talk that some Republican did a survey and it found voters don’t know where the great economy came from and think it might have come from deregulation - HORSE SHIT!! The average voter couldn’t name two rules Trump changed they only know they are in the best economy of their life and if Trump says he needs their vote to keep it coming he’s got it.

Not the ones saving for retirement. And parents of young working kids just starting out. Trumps economy has been great for many young grads giving them many job choices.

I’m glad you posted this. Rush is wrong here. If Kavanaugh’s confirmation is denied based on this OBVIOUS bullshit, it will energize the base even more than it was in 2016. Why would we stay home on election day and allow these bastards to have even MORE power?

The Republicans control Congress. They have a 51-49 majority in the Senate. If they cannot confirm an eminently qualified judge to the Supreme Court, what difference does it make if they are in charge or not?

Only Reps can stop Kavanaugh from being confirmed. They are either the solution or part of the problem. The Dems always stay united when it comes to the big issues. They are a monolith. They are also the enemy.

A failure to confirm Kavanaugh will depress GOP turnout big time. The Reps will appear weak, divided, and feckless. Loyalty begets loyalty.

Rush is right.

While everyone on FR is likely to turn out, there are several million Republicans that would be so dispirited they would not.

I agree. I’m going to vote of course, but there will be many that will be disgusted that a good man was allowed to be defined by trumped up stories that weren’t even the least bit reasonable.

I guess I will join those being disgusted! But I will still vote Republican we have to support Trump. But I will be holding my nose voting for my rino representative. And I wouldn’t blame those who are tired of voting for the lesser of evils. You still get evil.

These RINOs are contemptible, but there’s no way I’m staying home on election day. I’ll hold my nose and vote straight Republican. We can’t reward the Dems for their antics.

That’s a good point. I forgot about that. A lot of the reason to vote for Trump was for the judicial nominations. And if the Republicans let this one get a way, there will be no For the next one or the next one to be conservative.

But, a lot of Republicans who were skeptical about Trump voted for him because of the judges...

That was easily 80% of why I voted for Trump. I was not voting for a pope but for someone who would get things done. It sure seems like the senate is not even aware of this.

Because most of us in this forum are not going to let anything stop us doesn’t mean that this incredible display of gonad-less Republicans in the Senate won’t have a serious effect.

I expect this to hurt us noticeably.

I’m not missing my chance to vote out McCaskill and I’m pretty sure Josh Hawley would vote to confirm Kavanaugh or anyone else Trump nominates

I agree.

If Republicans capitulate (again) and fail to support Kavanaugh, some Republican voters will feel betrayed (again).

I can see some frustrated Republican voters sitting this one out.

There is one group of voters who are informed, follow politics, have strong opinions ... and do not vote. in 1994 MoralMajority / ChristianCoalition produced millions of Pro-lifers who never voted before and never voted since. The Senate Republicans so disappointed them in 1995-96. Knock door-to-door. You see a virgin Mary in the yard, or a Plaque on the door or a pro-life bumper sticker on the car in the driveway. You knock. They open the door. You see a worn Bible on the coffe table and EWTN or TBN on the TV. You think these are your voters. Think again. You ask them to vote, or to register to vote on the motor voter form you pull out of your pocket. They tell you they will pray about it. Six elections later they are still praying about it and still don't vote. Almost 100% of pro-abortion people vote. A very high percentage of pro-lifers do not vote. They are the single largest demographic group who follow politics, have a strong opinion on issues ... and do not vote.
