[Snip] So, in that sense, its no surprise that Michael Moores Fahrenheit 11/9 tanked in its whopping 1,719 theater wide release debut.
[Snip]
folks are even less likely to flock to an openly political documentary, and frankly even those on the left dont necessarily want to pay to see a 125-minute crash course of the current horrors of the day. Id gladly pay triple the ticket price to see a version of the movie without you-know-who babbling incoherently. Id argue that Moores motives in making the movie were less about spreading the word through its contents than in using the films publicity tour to get the word out on the various news/media outlets.
It earned $1.051 million yesterday and will probably make around $2.89m for the weekend for a miserable $1,682 per-theater average. Although itll outgross Where to Invade Next ($3.9m in 2015/2016) and thus become Moores biggest-grossing doc since Capitalism: A Love Story ($14.3m) back in 2009. It doesnt mean anything for the political left any more than the under-$6m performance of Dinesh DSouzas Death of a Nation ($5.87m) means anything for the political right. Neither has much of a chance of changing any hearts and minds. Fahrenheit 11/9 a relic of a time when we thought that movies could actually make a difference.

The author is trying to downplay how badly it’s doing. The movie was projected to earn $8 million.
Scott Mendelson is a far-left wacko, no question. The sad thing is, I enjoy reading his box office analysis as he offers a very astute take on the movie industry from a business perspective. But when he slips his politics in, it sorta ruins it for me.
That is LESS than 100,000 people. Nationwide.....
I think Mr. Donut has overplayed the “Fahrenheit” bullsh*t. Even the potheads are sick of it.
Political films preach to their choirs. No one goes to see the opposite views films.
barack obama can’t even draw more than a thousand people to his campaign rallies. A Michael Moore anti-Trump movie bombs during the biggest mid-term election of our lives and we’re supposed to believe that there’s a Blue Wave coming. Anyone who believes the Blue Wave myth is either a moron or a progressive troll.
Oh well, as Nelson would say . . . “HA HAAA!”
I bet James O’Keefe would have a better showing at the Box Office if he were to come out with a full length documentary on the Deep State.
By now, most thinking folks realize what a horses ass Moore is and ignore him.
The problem with liberal garbage, from a sales perspective, is that people can get it for free.
Michael Moore’s movies, even Fahrenheit, were duds.
The Government subsidized his movies.
Schools were coerced to buy it.
It’s what is already known by the other side, and it’s also not much of an escapism for a film. At this point I would go to theaters if they simplyou put an old movie in theaters. I don’t care for all the remakes anymore.
This isnt good for Mikey. His food bill alone must be enormous.
Every liberal school and library in the country will buy 20 copies of the DVD.
Duh....Michael Moore.....Where is this big Democrat Party “Blue Wave” you low life Democrat Scum & vermin have been bragging about.
It ain’t in your movie which has failed out of the gate, it ain’t in Obama rallies which barely get a 1,000 attendees, it ain’t in Clinton rallies which attract 50-100 attendees and it ain’t in Biden rallies which attack 25-50 attendees.
Mikey, Mikey Mikey, where is the grand, great, Democrat Party, “Blue Wave”? Mikey, maybe you should implore or beg Pelosi & Schumer to let take you over as the “rally” leader of the entire Democrat Party. What’s the worry and concern. Obama, Clinton, Biden don’t cut the mustard, for sure...maybe you can do better...Mikey!!!
This may be true, but looking at Rotten Tomatoes scores tells more of the story:
Movie | Critics | Audience | Producer |
---|---|---|---|
Death of a Nation | 0% | 89% | D'souza |
Hillary's America | 4% | 80% | D'souza |
Fahrenheit 11/9 | 80% | 55% | Moore |
Fahrenheit 9/11 | 83% | 69% | Moore |
Notice that the critics have almost as huge a difference as possible from the audience for D'souza's films? And notice they have a sizable difference going the other way from the audience in Moore's? And notice that the Left leaning audience of Moore's films were not that impressed, but the right leaning audience of D'souza's films were impressed?
You have a point there about James O’Keefe.
Maybe documentaries should be his next route of communication. James works hard to compose his expose’ films, but almost each time, what is shown is already known.
If the GOP is too timid, too disorganized or too RINO to turn this knowledge into action, not much is going to happen.
If O’Keefe can reform his work to be more than just a pithy Sound Bite on the news, it may have more effect. I’m guessing that the majority of the media didn’t even acknowledge the latest findings of Veritas. Hopefully, he will find a more effective, more lucrative method to expose the liars. That might mean combining fact with fiction to draw people in by a story.
Both Moore and O’Keefe are too consistent in their message and manner of delivery to keep their audience hooked.
