Box released the video to let residents know exactly what happened that morning.
Box said they had moved to that Abilene home in April, but they had never talked to the Millers until the morning of Sept. 1. The Millers were next-door neighbors.
“We had thrown out a twin mattress in a dumpster in our alley a few days before the shooting,” Box said. “You have to have the mattress in the dumpster or they will not haul it away.”
On the morning of Sept. 1, Box and Howard were in the backyard when they saw the mattress was on their property. Howard tossed it back in the dumpster.
Box said that’s when John Miller came to the alley, pulled the mattress out of the dumpster and tossed it back on Howard’s property.

Maybe the video explains it but why did the Millers keep pulling the mattress out of the dumpster?
I saw this video. The two idiots must hang.
I;m guessing it was a community dumpster that the surrounding neighbors pay a monthly fee to use. I’m also guessing the Millers didn’t like the mattresses taking up all the room in the dumpster, but evidently that was the proper way to dispose of them.
That was all so unnecessary. Over a damn trashed mattress for COL.
OK, I think the Millers are going to jail. Not for shooting the dead guy. But for putting the gun to the head of others at the party. That is against the law. And you can do time for that.
It seems the Millers have a few issues. First they were in their neighbors yard. Its ok to warn someone that they have lethal force. And to make sure they keep a distance. But that does not give you the right to threaten. And to put someone’s life in danger. Or even to come into someone’s yard.
But if the story is accurate. A bigger man who is angry and wields a baseball bat, is a threat. And you can blow him away if he approaches after a warning.

The gun grabbers will run with this one, even though NO sane gun owner would arm themselves due to a rubbish confrontation.
The perps will get life at the very least as it was 100% verbal until they opened fire.
At least that is what I saw but the camera moved to where we could not see exactly what started the shooting.

You can see the older Miller flinching and holding his arm up in a defensive move as the camera moves. Probably in response to an attack by Howard. I think they will walk after the facts come out.
More to the point, did Box spring from the mattress, or did he have a twin?
The story did say Howard’s brother handed a baseball bat to him. Howard might have raised it up to hit the elder Miller.

Article doesn’t say but it appears to be a community dumpster that
they all pay a fee to use. I don’t know what the rules of use are as
to what can be thrown in it. Large items such as a mattress may have
other rules for disposal.
LOL, we have the same kind of problem over dumpsters in our condo. The next door unit is closer to our end of the building, and the units in our building sometimes find it easier to use the closest one. The other building’s residents are very possessive of “Their” dumpster. The garbage is picked up under the condo association budget, but there have been altercations at the dumpster over the invasion of trash from the unit next door. What a world we have become.
From the video I can tell this isn’t the most cosmopolitan part of Abilene Texas...

Agreed about the guy in the orange shirt, but if you continue firing when the man is down you mean to kill him and are no longer protecting yourself. I count the four shots two of which are from the 12ga. the guy was surely down and no threat when the four shot was fired and most likely down after the first two shotgun blast.
