Aug. 27 (UPI) -- A California sheriff's office said deputies conducting a traffic stop arrested a man found to be transporting 800 pounds of stolen lemons.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Office said Thermal Station Deputies assigned to the Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District Team were investigating a string of recent agricultural thefts when they conducted the traffic stop Friday.
The sheriff's office said Los Angeles resident Dioncio Fierros, 69, was found to be transporting about 800 pounds of freshly picked lemons that had been illegally taken from a nearby farm.
Fierros was booked into the Indio Jail on a charge of theft of agricultural products.
During the worst part of the Calif drought a couple years ago the really hot stolen item was WALNUTS:
A truckload (with trailer behind) was over $1,000,000 at that time, truely crazy.
The formula was for a guy in an orange vest, yellow helmet and clipboard would climb up to the cab and simply drive away:
Looked like these men were part of the operation.
Gawd, all the puns are getting out of hand.... :-)
Stealing 800 lbs. of lemmons, not sure that juice was worth the squeeze.
cudda been worse...cudda been smugglin ‘em in from Arizona.
Congressman John Lewis the Lemon Salesman
Theyre pretty serious about fruit stealing (I used to live in a big fruit growing county there). Unfortunately there are other laws they couldnt care less about.
Heh heh.
Yes, it can make you wince..................
LOL! Liz, you truly are amazing at having ready-data for all purposes!! God Bless You!! ;-)
Cruel post-—I’m starving.:-)
.
Lemons are green when they are not ripe..............
is there some use for 800 pounds of lemons?
just curious why anyone would want 800 pounds of lemons...
(some sort of weird Obama sex ritual or drug, perhaps, or?)
in cal alot of onramps have people selling bags of oranges or lemons
This is one of the reason Lemons, and I will include other, but primarily Avocados are so damned expensive. Illegals mostly are stealing the fruit, just as in this story. The farmers have to compensate for the theft as part of the costs to grow, and to market the product, thus the prices are sky high. Been going on for a long time.
It’s not over. He may win on a peel.

Isn't it county/state fair season?
Maybe he has a lemonade concession?
Avocados are expensive for several reasons.
One, they don’t last long.............
