There seems to be a lot of this “gofundme” type of begging going on.
I worked with a gal who skimped and saved for four years to do some dream wedding in Florida and honey-moon in Tahiti. She was just awful sure about this guy of hers and several of us who worked with her...felt he was a loser, and this dream deal was a total waste of money. But at least in her case, she worked to make it happen and felt it was all worth it in the end.

This is just about why I hate weddings in general. People become so Hypocritical and the Mendacity just piles up.
I finally got where I looked at a wedding invitation as a demand for a gift. So other than a cousin whose wedding I attended about 4 years ago I have pretty much avoided going to them for the last 30 plus years.
It’s almost sad to see the monies spent on the elusive fairy tale weddings that people want.
Would rather attend a funeral, a lot less pretense.
my wife and had merged our households. We had two or more of everything. We said this in out invitation. The guests paid for the wedding and most of the honeymoon with cash or check gifts
I saw some research which showed a negative correlation between the cost of the wedding and the longevity of the marriage.
Makes sense. Somebody with visions of a fantasy princess wedding will not be satisfied for long with a mere mortal for a husband.

I might agree with that sentiment.
I feel sorry for the couple’s child. With parents like that, God help him/her.
