During the lecture, titled "Coconut Oil and other Nutritional Errors," Karin Michels has made herself very clear with regard to dietary recommendations, and underlined that coconut oil is not healthy. Its superfood status had already come under scrutiny last year after the American Heart Association (AHA) updated its guidelines, which recommended that people avoid the saturated fatty acids found in coconut oil. Michels went a step further than to recommend avoiding the foodstuff, saying "coconut oil is pure poison" and "is one of the worst foods you can eat." There's no study showing significant health benefits to coconut-oil consumption. And, according to Michels, coconut oil is more dangerous than lard because it almost exclusively contains saturated fatty acids, ones that can clog the coronary arteries. You can identify fats that contain large quantities of saturated fatty acids by checking to see whether they remain solid at room temperature, as is the case with butter or lard

Horses for courses. Katanas are for separating heads from necks. Opening a coconut shell to drink the juice and scrape out the meat ... a machete’s the tool.

The UK linked Obesity to viruses.
The video by Dr. Eades correlates the rise in obesity to the use of vegetable oils.
Part of the problem is that the advice given to the obese has often been the exact opposite of what they should do. Wally world has many causes. Some, maybe even most of those slobs are just victims.
I disagree
I see daily today a dozen folks 2-4 times normal body weight
In the 60s I might see that a few times a year
And it dovetails with white trash has lost its dignity it once had when we were called rednecks
They are no more rednecks almost
And Im 15-20 pounds overweight at six five mid 230s so Im not perfect either
He asked why people suddenly started eating more carbs. It's not like carbs weren't available in the '40s.
The answer he came up with was the change from saturated fats to vegetable oils. And he presents detailed science of what occurs at the cellular level.
It's not all about will power. In fact it may be very little about will power, as Dr Attia found out. He said he was doing everything right, and still ended up with metabolic syndrome and suddenly started gaining weight at a young age.
Dr. Guntry points to lignans in peanuts and tomatoes and causing leaky gut syndrome leading to inflation in various forms. Is he right I don't know.
I think there may be multiple causes, but I do think these people are onto something. We've gotten horribly wrong nutritional advice over the past several decades. And even when they discover how wrong they were, it takes decades more for the word to get out and reaffirmed enough to change the consensus view.
Possible causes include:
This coconut oil article seems to reflect that consensus group think inertia.
And in addition to the Dr. Eades video you really need to find the Peter Attia video and watch it. His attitude towards obese was ExACTLY like yours.
I could lose weight to that!
Well then why arent rich women as fat as poor women
Ill tell you why
More societal pressure to be thin or at least normal body weight
That SOB has caused more misery & death than perhaps any human who ever walked on plant earth to this day!
Excellent, informative post!!!
I’ve been enjoying a zero carb diet for 38 days now. I feel better today overall than when I was 20.
I used to love coconut anything & everything. I loved making popcorn in coconut oil.
I wouldn’t put either of them in my mouth now for love nor $$$.
Well you do need to recognize that the fattening foods are cheaper. Someone trying to stretch a buck is more likely to make the wrong food choices.
And when you are wealthy, you can spend more time in the gym, and doing recreational activities, than when you are poor.
You can also afford tummy tucks ala Suzanne Sommers.
Correction, it’s Lenoleic acid, that’s super bad, and it is an Omega 6.

I have not really enjoyed theater popcorn since the 80s when they dropped coconut oil due to propaganda from one biased study.
Short about 9 eggs
YUMMY
If you can rip open a coconut with your teeth, it’s OK to have a ‘man bun’.
