It's been nearly a century since scientists first theorized that the Universe was expanding, and that the farther away a galaxy was from us, the faster it appears to recede. This isn't because galaxies are physically moving away from us, but rather because the Universe is full of gravitationally-bound objects, and the fabric of space that those objects reside in is expanding.
But this picture, which held sway from the 1920s onward, has been recently revised. It's been only 20 years since we first realized that this expansion was speeding up, and that as time goes on, individual galaxies will appear to recede away from us faster and faster. In time, they'll become unreachable, even if we journeyed towards them at the speed of light. The Universe is disappearing, and there's nothing we can do about it.
When you look out at a star whose light arrives after traveling towards you for 100 years, you're seeing a star that's 100 light years away, due to the fact that the speed of light is finite. But when you look out at a galaxy whose light arrives after traveling towards you for a journey of 100 million years, you're not looking at a galaxy that's 100 million light years distant. Rather, you're seeing a galaxy that's significantly farther away than that!

Yes (sort of).
“This capture was news because they determined where it came from”
Great. Now we’ve p*ssed off another group of undocumented travelers. We should have just invited it to stay, piled free stuff on it and told it about chain migration.
“This is something that has puzzled me. As we look further out into the universe we are also looking back further in time. It would seem logical to me that if objects further away, that is say a billion light years distant and a billion years in the past are seen to be moving faster than closer objects, that would mean the expansion of universe is slowing, not accelerating. “
#metoo...
And these things very far away might not be disappearing, but just hadn’t yet been made when the light left.
Actually, I suspect the quandary is just a matter of poor reportage.
Oh come on now! There is nothing a good old tax on the rich cant solve! Pay your fair share to save the universe, honky!
I realize that this is an empty rhetorical flourish, but what, exactly, would anyone imagine we could do about it? Sue God?
And all alomg I been thinking you believe The Bible! It says we shall not all ‘sleep’. There is a coming event that will transform those alive in Christ at that time. [See 1Thess 4:13-17 and 1Cor 15: 51-53] Yes, Virginia, a great many WILL disappear in that moment.
I assume the universe is in three connected parts: 1) quantum part 2) our space time part 3) the unknown part that the universe is expanding into.
The unknown part is like the seal that holds the other two parts together, that contains those parts. So how do we know that we have gone from one part to the next part? The laws change. For example, the middle part or our part
with Newtonian Laws don’t apply to the quantum part. So something has to restrict to those laws that tells us we are in a different domain. The quantum laws don’t apply to our middle part so something restricts those laws. This tells us size is not arbitrary or relative.
The unknown part that the universe is expanding into seems to be an absence of what is: something that is not real but that allows the real (space) to inhabit it, to be sealed. This absence is like a seal: it works by containing the tri-part dimensions like a glass jar. So when God is thirsty on a Sunday morning he can open the jar and drink the goodness of creation.
Now one thing Forbes won’t tell you is how much God enjoys sipping creation. God has a taste for it and keeps creating it over and over. Those tripart divisions are not another way of saying the Trinity or the realms of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost like Higher, Lower or Middle Earth. Don’t make that mistake. And don’t mistake that the Devil is in the quantum part either. He is not.
We’re all connected to God and go back to him. There are communities that in these three different parts and they have their different natures. But we all go back to God because our dream is rounded by a sleep (like a glass jar).
I’ll wait until String Theory and Parallel Universes are factored into this hypothesis.
Until then, Options for precious metals, T-Bonds and Gaming Technology may offer a good return on your money.
Glad to read your post tonight before turning in. We do know that the Creator of the Universe knows what’s going to happen exactly and we can trust HIM with all of that. Quite a comfort.
God is hidden because otherwise we would be constantly bugging Him for the keys to the car.
And there were smart people that believed that the world rides on the back of four elephants who stand on top of a turtle swimming through the universe.
So why didn’t Obama, in the past, issue an Executive Order to tell the universe to stop disappearing under threat of a grand jury subpoena?
After all, Obama, as a precedent, ordered the oceans to stop rising. I think the oceans are either in contempt of Obama (aren’t we all), or don’t give a damn, or a flood, or a tsunami.
Singing “Old Man River, he just keeps rolling along”.
That’s not a Blazer. A Blazer has four wheels. Just an alien impostor I tell you, an impostor.
“The Universe Is Disappearing, And There’s Nothing We Can Do To Stop It”
OK. that’s it ... i give up ... i’m just going to finally give in and drown myself in sarsaparilla float root beer floats ...
Yep, and all those that died before then are screwed.
Too bad, so sad!
Gimmie a break, lol, and no I don’t practice a religion.
I cant say for sure that Ive seen that presented exactly that way. I can tell you that throwing a lit smoke bomb from the window of a bus into the bed of a truck going the opposite direction results in suspension.
It was presented that way in Nuke School for the Navy.
And 60% of the Nukes didn’t understand.
LMAO.
We are all doomed. We really are.
well it means we wont be having any space aliens visit.
No problem, there’s an infinite number (for all practical purposes) of universes to choose from. We just need to learn how to change tracks.
