Democratic enthusiasm and a GOP malaise surrounding President Trump have set the stage for a potentially devastating midterm election for the House Republican majority.
In a series of special elections mostly in reliably GOP districts, Democratic candidates have routinely outperformed Hillary Clintons share of the vote from 2016.
At the same time, Republican candidates have underperformed President Trump's vote share in all but two special elections.
If that pattern holds in November, the worst-case scenario for the GOP is a truly historic wipeout of as many as 72 House seats, according to The Hills analysis of special election results and congressional and presidential returns from 2016...

Most people don't pay a lot of attention to mid-term elections until after Labor Day. A lot will change in the next 2 1/2 months, probably a lot of it in our favor.
Rush Limbaugh was talking about “Trump wanting the lose the House”, as well as Nate Silver’s excellence in election forecasting (not) at the beginning of today’s show.
I am anxious to vote in November. But I have a bone to pick because I am disappointed in the quality of Republican candidates. The best repubs are not in govt. They are in the marketplace creating wealth and opportunity.
Cubs have better chance to Win the World Series than Trump to Win Presidency
If God helped Trump defeat 16 GOP rivals, all with some Swamp money and support except Huckabee, then He is going to really confuse and confound us if he lets the Evil Ones win the House and ruin him and us in short order
God Forbid. Amen.
GOO Malaise? Wtg is this idiot talking about.
The best economy in 50 years moron.
I have to hear that - my same feeling. Give the RATs a one vote majority and let them try and Govern ...
Part of me wants them to go on in this thought process, and their opinions will bounce back and forth in their little insulated leftist protected bubbles, until it is a near certainty in their heads.
Then when reality arrives like it did in November 2016, we can see another batch of YouTube videos that feature salty leftist tears of frustration.
I say we don’t try to refute it, just let them keep on fantasizing.
Delusional? How nice of you to be so kind./s I was thinking more of Full of Shiite.
Consider if the GOP loses the House. First item of business will be impeachment of Trump which will breeze through the House on a party line vote. The impeachment trial in the Senate will drag on for months with jackals in the media salivating at the prospect of finally bringing down Trump. However, like Clinton, Trump will survive the impeachment and go onto win convincingly in 2020. The Democrats will have alienated at least half of the population, no legislative agenda will have been accomplished and Trump is not only still in the White House but elected for another four years. If they take the House, the Democrats doom themselves with impeachment, but have no other agenda other than raising taxes and opening the borders... both non starters with the electorate. Their election victory in the midterms will gain them nothing.
Word on the web is the Deel State will probably launch a False Flag against Itself in order to blame Trump, Patriots, coservatives and Republicans before the election.
This is why they are censoring people. They want to silence the people that could expose and are influential. They do not worry about people that are not influential.
The Democrats are a dying party and they are desperate to stop Trump. This is why they will attack themselves, and then use that to attempt to steal the election in 2018 and 2020.
Bill Clinton did in 1996. Remember Oklahoma City? President Clinton even said after the election that the Oklahoma City attack was what helped him get re-elected.
If this headline motivates the GOP, I like it.
Why?
Doesn’t the MSM hate being correct all the time?
Keep smoking the good Id shiite kids
Hey, some kids I knew got shot but we’re going on “gma”. Woo Hoo!
So I'm 100% on board with scaring the hell out of Trump voters. If that's what it takes to get them to the polls, I'm all for it.
Well all these predictions came true for Hillary, why should we not trust them now/ s
