...But Keller doesnt buy any of it. Its like a fairy tale: Big rock from sky hits the dinosaurs, and boom they go. And it has all the aspects of a really nice story, she said. Its just not true.
...Kellers resistance has put her at the core of one of the most rancorous and longest-running controversies in science. Its like the Thirty Years War, says Kirk Johnson, the director of the Smithsonians National Museum of Natural History. Impacters case-closed confidence belies decades of vicious infighting, with the two sides trading accusations of slander, sabotage, threats, discrimination, spurious data, and attempts to torpedo careers. Ive never come across anything thats been so acrimonious, Kerr says. Im almost speechless because of it. Keller keeps a running list of insults that other scientists have hurled at her, either behind her back or to her face. She says shes been called a bitch and the most dangerous woman in the world, who should be stoned and burned at the stake.
...Although Kellers father enlisted his brood to tend the landworking them so hard that a neighbor once reported himthe family constantly teetered on the brink of bankruptcy. To put meat on the table, Kellers mother once stewed up one of the cats the family kept on the farm. That family should rightfully be cursed.
Interesting, but CAGW seems to be WAY more controversial.
I don’t think I could ever eat a dog or a cat I owned. Someone else’s pet is another matter...if I were hungry enough.
Then you have never truly been crazy starved. Be grateful.
“Be grateful.”
I am. I suppose, like anyone, I would do what I had to, to survive.
The Keller family sound like a right pack of total weirdos. If they had to kill their cats and dog to feed their kids, Old Man Keller should have kept his darn lederhosen ZIPPED.
Some say the reason the Norwegians succeed in Polar exploration... An Englishman would NEVER eat his dog.
Ya can’t trust them Kellers...
Maybe settled science isn’t settled science.
I wonder if they have such fights about the Permian extinction.

Reading about Shackleton’s being stranded in the ice.
The dogs were pets of the crew, they developed a workaround as the dogs were consumed.
You wouldnt live long if you ate my pet or anyone elses, i’d wager. i dont think youd say the small meal was worth it.
It's like that scene in Blazing Saddles where they let a jet contrail be visible in the distant blue sky. Turns the whole thing into a joke.
Maybe settled science isnt settled science.

Just like the Jets and the Sharks, and not so much ‘footwork’.
For this fight, you find a ‘friendly’ journalist get your findings spread around.
With better funding, they would hire Fusion GPS.
Could they both be right?
The above link was posted in a thread stating that earthquakes on one side of the planet could trigger earthquakes on the other side: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3677932/posts
I read the piece. What I saw were two groups of arrogant atheists yelling at each other and being More-Scientist-Than-Thou. I think BOTH of them are full of s#!t.
It’s called survival.
Whatever we do, we must not let these maniacs rule over us. They’ll drive us to extinction with their egos.
THAT's a totally wild story of complete human survival.
I find that few today could accomplish same.
