urope's tallest skyscraper is nearly finished.
The Lakhta Centre in St Petersburg, Russia, now stands at 462m (1,516ft) tall making it the 13th tallest building in the world.
The 87-storey tower takes the title of the tallest building in Europe from Moscow's Federation Tower, which stands at 374m (1,227ft).
The building's facade is made from 16,500 individual panes of glass that have been fitted with automatic shutters and valves in a bid to reduce heat loss.

Convention says that Europe ends at the Urals/Caucuses... which are about 1200 miles East of St. Petersburg. Culturally, Europe is wherever you wanna say it is.

“Culturally, Europe is wherever you wanna say it is.”
Can we say that it is still in France, the UK, Belgium etc?
It seems to be thriving in Hungary.

Russia is more European than Europe is now

Do some of those "spines", like the one at the top, look a little outta whack?

Not the UK. They’re an island. Europe is a continent (well, a portion of one). We used to claim them as European for shorthand, when we spoke of the European Union (oops, they’re out), the European theater (obsolete), Western Europe (obsolete).

Sounds expensive and a maintenance nightmare. How long before they stop fixing them when they break?

Not really. I think the differences in lighting and certain superficial features do it. The black line on the top spine is certainly crooked, but I don't think that's part of the main architecture.

I don’t know...it appears the entire spine follows the “black line”.
