“What to tell people that Obama had “75 straight quarters of growth ...”
Herve Villachaize’s mother used to tell him the same thing.

wrong on more than one level. Yes you can correct him on the number of quarters too. But Obama did not only have positive quarters. He had negative quarters as well. Your friend is only talking year over year. But quarter over quarter he had a few negative quarters. He did not have a negative year. Of course there are very few of those in history. And given the great recession happened in 2008, Its hard to have a full year after that where the GDP goes down. But that did happen in Obamas first year, 2009.

One thing you may point out is that America has the largest growth rate quarter over quarter of any country in the G20. And that includes China and India. Some Trump took a growing economy and turbo charged it so its the best in the world and better than it was.

The anemic growth throughout Obama’s administration was driven almost entirely by fracking in Texas and Both Dakota, which occurred despite not because of Obama’s economy killing policies. If you do not include Texas and North Dakota in the national numbers then the U.S. would have been in a depression for most of Obama’s term.

Obama was not in office for 19 years, ergo, it’s false.

Yep, he wasn’t ... it just felt that long.

No matter the new math being taught today, their math does NOT work.

8 years X 4 quarters can only equal 32 Quarters at best.

Ask them how they do their math today.

As a life long bookkeeper/accounting person, I have never seen such calculations. But- then I am only 78, so maybe I missed something.

He might have meant it grew by 75 quarters... so the economy grew by $18.75 during Bammy's terms in office. ;-)

You could point out that a child born with severe genetic defects might well 'grow' every year of his life but be miserable, in pain, and die at age 12.

Mere technical growth is not a sign of health.

Also I think he set a record for lowest average growth for any president.

The US population grows at about 1% per year. Therefore, the economy has to grow at 1% a year just to keep even with the population. Thus, the true growth of the economy per person is the GDP growth rate minus the population growth rate. Using this measure, the Obama economy was so bad, he would have had 5 economic recessions during his presidency.

Is there a source? Perhaps they said 75 weeks.
Otherwise, that number doesn’t make sense. Unless you’re a liberal, I suppose.
