In an embarrassing gaffe that is being ridiculed by left and right, far left New York candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accidentally misidentified what party she is campaigning for.
Heres what she said
After her shocking upset in New Yorks 14th congressional district that unseated party boss Rep. Joe Crowley (D), Ocasio-Cortez has gone on to campaign for other similarly far left candidates wishing to bend the politics of the Democratic party.
But on one campaign stop with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), she appeared to forget, or simply misstate, what party she was campaigning for.
And Bernie Sanders tweeted the video of the gaffe out from his social media account.
He wisely neglected to quote her directly, saying, Here in Kansas City with [Ocasio-Cortez] to support [Brent Welder] and flip this seat in November.
Ocasio-Cortez unfortunately said something else entirely.
Were gonna flip this seat red
Hello everybody, Ocasio-Cortez said, um, so excited to be hopping on here, Senator Sanders account, and were here in Kansas City to rally for Brent Welder, were gonna flip this seat red in November!
But red is typically considered the color signifying the Republican party, while blue is considered the color signifying the Democrat party, so Ocasio-Cortez was saying that she was going to help Republicans win the seat.
Ocasio-Cortez has become a controversial figure even among Democrats, where some of the more traditional party adherents have chafed at the upstart campaign.
Welder has an uphill battle in unseating Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-N.Y.) in the district.
the gift that keeps on giving...
Watch Reagan’s “Morning in America” ad from 1984. It helped him win almost the whole country.

“Then Big Media changed the colors.”
IIRC, it was Tim Russert who did that when he covered the 2000 election.
At least the Wide Latinx knows red represents Socialism/Communism.
Did anyone else notice they have Yoder as being from NY?
The red/blue thing is stupid. Makes no sense at all.
We need to hold off on ridiculing her....for a while.
Pound out the message over and over again. She is the new face of the Democratic Party. She is their future!
She will be a fantastic vote repellent for Democrats in November *IF* we can keep her viable until then. The Democrat establishment is trying to destroy her and the insurgency she represents now. We need to fan that flame.
I remember when it was blue and gray.
I like the color red and I am happy to have it associated with the GOP.
I think you must have misunderstood the comment.
Well the country may have had a name change, but it hasn’t fully de-Sovietized just yet and is hardly a free marketplace. And neither has its KGB leader, who is merely in a different costume.
I definitively prefer Elephant Republican RED. :)
‘Always insist on blue.’
okay; so from now on we call rural people ‘bluenecks’...?
and Trabant Blue
No, she didn’t. The REDS are the Communist Democrats.
Exactly right.
Sanders and his wife spent their honeymoon in Russia. Oh the irony of going RED.
I think commies immediately identify with red, and then, if they are from the US, they have to quickly switch it to blue in their brains. I’m guessing this was a Freudian slip.
She is as dumb as a rock. Says a lot about the New York voters that elected her. Says a lot about the decline and fall of our nation. The US only works with a moral, informed electorate. The idiots that elected her are neither.
They switched it, apparently because confusion by changing references, definitions and standards in all things is their way, leading to our wicked self-deception and then our woeful self-destruction.
Tim Russert was the first person I heard calling the right red and the left blue and that ruse has been maintained by both sides ever since. Why?
Before then, left was always red, and not just in terms of political ideology, but left/port is red in international navigation and collision warning for ships and aircraft.
Left/Port = Red
Right/Starboard = Green
Just more of their up is down, down is up, wrong is right, right is wrong confusion that is SOP in our times.
