In an embarrassing gaffe that is being ridiculed by left and right, far left New York candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accidentally misidentified what party she is campaigning for.
Here’s what she said
After her shocking upset in New York’s 14th congressional district that unseated party boss Rep. Joe Crowley (D), Ocasio-Cortez has gone on to campaign for other similarly far left candidates wishing to bend the politics of the Democratic party.
But on one campaign stop with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), she appeared to forget, or simply misstate, what party she was campaigning for.
And Bernie Sanders tweeted the video of the gaffe out from his social media account.
He wisely neglected to quote her directly, saying, “Here in Kansas City with [Ocasio-Cortez] to support [Brent Welder] and flip this seat in November.”
Ocasio-Cortez unfortunately said something else entirely.
“We’re gonna flip this seat red”
“Hello everybody,” Ocasio-Cortez said, “um, so excited to be hopping on here, Senator Sanders’ account, and we’re here in Kansas City to rally for Brent Welder, we’re gonna flip this seat red in November!”
But red is typically considered the color signifying the Republican party, while blue is considered the color signifying the Democrat party, so Ocasio-Cortez was saying that she was going to help Republicans win the seat.
Ocasio-Cortez has become a controversial figure even among Democrats, where some of the more traditional party adherents have chafed at the upstart campaign.
Welder has an uphill battle in unseating Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-N.Y.) in the district.

IIRC, the LEFT used to be ‘red’ and the Right were blue. Then Big Media changed the colors......I suspect the Media didn’t want ANYONE associating the LEFT with Communism.
I say it’s because they are both commies. If you are old enough to remember - blue WAS the color of the Republicans for many years. I do believe when the Rems were taken over by socialism, the party leaders and the media changed it and took it over so they wouldn’t appear *so* communist to middle America. It was all in the plan.
They knew what they were saying.

...if you are less than 26 yrs old. If you are in your late 30s or older red is typically seen as communist.
The media changed it for Moscow Bill in 1992.
Ohh she wants to flip it red alright. Not Republican red though.
The “press” used to alternate the blue and red between the incumbents and the challengers.
After the 1980 election, where Reagan turned the nation “red”, the press decided that it was a “most opportune moment” to stop the alternation of colours and permanently assign the COMMUNIST colour to the Republicans, and assign blue to the demonrats.
Yet another example of the subtle manipulation of the American voter.
It’s FAR worse up here, but then again, we’re a sanctuary for your leftist scum. Just ask them.
And we say to Trump, instead of showing us your strength by tearing children from their families, where was your strength in standing up to Putin and Russia?
Sanders and his wife spent their honeymoon in Russia. Oh the irony of going RED.

In NY State, the GOP petitions are pink. LOL. And the Dems have green. Wonder what the Green Party has?

She’s saying it like it is. She’s in the red hammer and sickle party.
I remember it too. It was about the same time that "pro-abortion" became "pro-choice".
The basic reason for the change was that the DEMS/MEDIA knew that red instilled a sense of alarm in viewers while blue instills a sense of calm.
Since their campaign platforms consist of lies and promises that will never be met, they had to use any advantage they could get (or steal).
