A Montreal Beach Just Banned All Dogs After A Pit Bull Attacked A Swimmer

Pit bulls have never had the best reputation in Montreal, or really in any other city. Especially over the last couple years there's been a lot of back and forth on whether or not a pit bull ban will be enforced in the city. After Valerie Plante was elected mayor, dog owners thought the fight was over as the pit bull ban was revoked. But, for the last few months Bill 128 has still been in talks, and it doesn't look good for the dogs.

Despite the bad rep, there are still a few places in and around Montreal that allow dogs on sight. One of those being Hudson's Sandy Beach right outside of the city. Well, they did allow dogs, up until yesterday.

The area has always been a super popular spot for locals as well as tourists and out of town visitors. Since it was one of the only beaches in Quebec to be dog friendly, at times it looked more like a dog park than a place you'd actually want to sun tan and swim.

Dog owners are now out of luck though as the beach is now officially off limits to all dogs. It's because of a totally random pit bull attacked that sparked a lot of fear within beach-goers and even caused injury. Here's what happened.

Dogs poop and pee in the sand, doggie parents pick up most of the poop; children roll around in the sand, what could be wrong with having your mutt on the beach?

Good thing cats were mentioned.

Whatever.

Typical libtard reaction. Instead of banning the crappy dogs, all dogs are banned.

Pit bull owners often claim their pit bulls aren't really pit bulls. "It's not a pit bull! It's a Staffordshire terrier!" or other such nonsense. Unfortunately, a complete ban is the easiest workaround.

You can thank pit bull owners for this.

If a person needs a pit bull, they should be examining the person more than the dog.

We laugh at those who do. We call it going to the lake or river. The only beaches around here are at the ocean.

If you happen to be away from the ocean and are talking to someone who mentions that they are "going to the beach", it's probably because they don't want you showing up at the same lake their favorite beach is at. And they laugh and laugh

Obviously, “Keep your dog on a leash, Montreal” is not a complete solution, as dogs like this one can overpower an owner to break away.

I think it should be illegal to even walk a dog if the owner can’t on the spot lift three times the dog’s weight.

Virtually every dog shelter in America is overrun with Pit Bulls. Reckless, careless breeders. Dogs seized from Meth cookers. Dog fighters. Trailer trash. Crack houses. And we, the taxpayer, are forced to pay for it. Not so much that we should insist on neuter/spay for the Pit Bulls, but rather, for their owners.

That’s exactly what most beaches do. They have a separate area for dogs. Usually not the best for human recreation but just fine for dogs to run and play. Definitely agree the owners need to pick up after their pets and even pick up stray piles they find to keep it clean.

Funny thing happened a few years ago. Lady walking her dog kept allowing it to crap in my front yard. I saw her walking it again and she was still about 100 yards off. This time I was ready. As her dog was crapping I stormed out with one of those flimsy food service gloves. I went postal on her. Called her a disgusting filthy pig after a thorough dressing down drill sergeant style. Told her if she did not pick it up I would follow her home and smear her dogs crap under all their car handles, on the front door knob and I would then get creative. She was all indignant and said her husband and sons would visit me. I told her ask them if they know what a CCW is. She picked up the crap and stormed off.

Next time I saw her walking her dog her husband was with her. He smiled really big at me and then looked back and winked as they passed. In her back pocket was a little plastic shopping bag.

They called me a B!tch tamer in college.

Hm. I believe it would take a great deal of presence of mind to do this with a dog attached to you. It seems unlikely that the man had been through the class.

I am not aware of any dogs that hold religious beliefs.

Yes. Otherwise, it would be “breedist”.

Feces in the sand is enough to keep dogs off public beaches.

That has been noted. Here is an article that describes the issue:

I do not know. It has proved almost impossible to keep sharks alive in captivity.
