The only fun dog is a trained dog. Disobedient, unruly dogs are not fun. They are work. They are a pain. Trained dogs are wonderful.
Excellent point. Who hasn’t been bitten or clawed by their cat at some point. I can’t imaging being bitter or clawed by a 120 lb tabby.
I think you hit the nail on the head.all dogs can behave like vicious hunting pack animals..and the dogs when set off which are the most capable are the well known ones...rots..pits..argentine dogos...german sheps..dobies...anyone who keeps em is risking some damage either to others or themselves...loyal loving or nicely tempered...step right up to the wheel of fortune...or fickle finger of fate..
There are kitties who will play harmlessly with pet mice, though. It depends on how well they are fed. If not hungry, they may not bother the mouse.
Your post on the subject is as well written as I’ve ever seen it written. Fido the pit bull may be well socialized from a puppy but he still can’t escape his genetic breeding anymore than any other breed.
Labs were bread to retrieve and it comes naturally to them no matter how untrained to do so.
German Shepherds were bread to herd and it comes naturally to them no matter how untrained to do so.
Terriers were bread to chase small rodents it comes naturally to them no matter how untrained to do so.
Pit bulls were bread to fight. At any time for any unknown reason, that inherently bread trait can manifest itself. It is in their DNA. I mean, what do you feel safer around? A Labrador that at any minute can revert to breeding and retrieve your shoes, or a pit bull that at any minute can revert to breeding and maul someone to death.
And cats were bred to perpetually puzzle everybody.
Thank you.
Lol I have an exception though. We’ve got 3 of them (used to be 4) and the daughter of the two is the most docile thing ever. She’s literally a “fraidy cat” and shies away from anyone but me, for some reason she’s attached to me but if even hubby pets or talks to her she runs off, and she’s been with us for 10 years. Fat little thing too, never played and ran around like most kittens/young cats.
Succinct. bkmk.
You are exactly right on all points.
I still wouldn’t volunteer to be a mouse friend to a cat, no one would. I’m not saying cats don’t have their own personalities and variations in behavior, though.

Absolutely, an untrained dog is not a happy dog either, besides making everyone around it annoyed too. Dogs love to have structure and rules, and know exactly where they stand in the unit.

I certainly wouldn’t volunteer to be around a 500 lb terrier either, especially if I wasn’t known to the dog. I think it would still be safer than being around a 500 lb house cat though, ha.

I apologise. That was from the second paragraph, and should not have been taken as a postulate.
True. And the “Humanization of Animals” is an awkward turn of phrase. Rather than “humanization”, I believe the correct word should have been anthropomorphization.
Since I enjoy full use at present of my digits, joints, and appendages, I join you in your opinion.
“Most folks know of at least one case where the pet owner(s) loved the pet(s) more than their own children. Sadly, I am one that knows of such a family. “

Thank you for giving an example of one of the reasons for this article.
While not exclusive to any given breed, this particular phenomenon appears to be almost a “given” with pit bull owners and/or advocates.
In addition, while this has been mostly confined to my own observations at present, I find it so pervasive that I no longer completely trust even long-term friends if they acquire a dog of this type.
As I have stated before, I believe that this is a spiritual issue at the core, and is, frankly, a demonic problem.
“The OP of this thread appears to be on a vendetta against Pit Bulls for some unfathomable reason. It should be balanced with opinions from the other side. I guess I will be one of those.”

Thank you. Your comments are thoughtful and polite, absolutely essential for a dialogue. I do have my reasons for posting these articles. What questions have you for me?

Thank you for the referral to the coast to coast show. The shows are long; perhaps you would be so kind as to supply a transcript of the portion you wish me to hear?
