Union and Confederate soldiers return to Gettysburg on 50th anniversary of Civil War battle that began 155 years ago tomorrow:
Calm down; I’ve asked the mods to remove it. Carry on, please, without the usual vituperation.
“Calm down; Ive asked the mods to remove it.”
I hope they don’t. FR isn’t for cowards or crybabies that just want to control FR.
Wow, that image is powerful.
Well done.
Yes, I’ve seen that too.
Amazing. Such a bloody war it was.
And the bitterness lingered 150 years in some places.
It’s gone. You can have a good cry about.
“Calm down;”
Backatcha. You got on your typical high-horse because a thread didn’t go your way.
I love the pics, but I thought Getty images were a no no?
Thank you for posting. Extremely powerful images should make us cautious about getting into a repeat. I see no issue with what was and is.
Not hardly ,it’s still here ,dearie ,got your pink hat on today I see
Appropriate respect from those who fought towards each other
Compare that to self righteous NeoCon virtue signaling scorn today of the souths history
But wardaddy you hate Yankees
Hardly but I detest anti southern bigots attacking Americas perennial socaillly conservative bastian
My pleasure.
Yeah. No longer politically correct to paint the confederate battle flag on the roof of your Dodge Charger.
The left is populated by weenies.
Well said and agree 100%
It is pretty obvious Miss Marmelstein was referring to her own post that she asked to have removed, not the entire thread.
I see one post removed , guess the old saying fits “If’n you can’t take heat ,get out of the kitchen”
Thanks for those pics. I frequently drive through Gettysburg as part of my job. Always get goosebumps.
The newsreel that you recall was made at a later reunion, around 1930, I believe. I saw it on the old PBS program “Lowell Thomas Remembers” back in the 1970s. And yes, you can hear a man howl, followed by him saying “that’s the rebel yell”.
Very well put. Thanks.
Bullshit.
I am willing to bet that none of the men there gave, or expected any forgiveness. At the time they were all doing their jobs. And most of them would have chosen to be anywhere else.
I willing to bet they were all just happy to be alive.
Well said and I agree. No matter how you slice it, and whether or not you believe that the South had a Constitutional right to secede, these were Americans on both sides ... Americans fighting Americans. Who among those Americans, 150+ years ago, could have envisioned that today, 150+ years later, we’d be battling foreign invaders as well as the so-called “Americans” who side with them, and who purport to call for a “Second Civil War”. What a waste.
