For the past 30 years I have been a mind-numbed robot, unquestioningly accepting whatever Rush Limbaugh said on the radio. However, today I experienced a big shock---I actually disagreed with something El Rushbo said.
It was when he labeled the Democrats as Radicals and Progressives. I don't (GASP!) agree. Progressives in a political sense came about at the end of the 19th century and extended into the early 20th century and meant something quite different than the way it is used today (as a substitute for "liberal"). Radicals can really mean anything extreme and is not specific enough.
I propose the proper terminology to describe the current split among the Democrats is as the Bolshevik and Menshevik wings of the party.
I truly hope Rush reconsiders his description in favor of describing Democrats as being members of either the Bolshevik or Menshevik wings of the party.

Well, they’re not going to look it up. Rush wants to make it immediately intelligible. He’s a communicator.
I think he oversimplifies sometimes, but that’s communication. You get the general idea.
Definitely food for thought. We’ve seen this since probably 1972 in the Democrat party. It’s not enough to be sufficiently Democrat. One has to become Democrat in the “correct” way — at the moment — to advance to party leadership.
We also see signs of this overseas. In Germany, the traditional left (SPD) is disintegrating, and the traditional right (CDU/CSU) may dissolve their voting union over immigration.
Even so, the shift to the far left has IMO demonstrated more significance than anything that has happened on the right side of the political spectrum.
I had the same thought yesterday when he or Hannity mentioned Dems and Bolsheviks during their radio shows.
“Progressive” is a name communists have often used to describe themselves.
In the US “progressives” were great admirers of big government and pushed for many socialist policies and programs.
Today “progressives” are also “radicals.” So using the two terms to try to differentiate the wings of the Democrat Party explains nothing. Your menshevik & bolshevik is a better analogy. Unfortunately, few know enough about Russian history for these terms to be easily understood.
The Democrats are split between the squeamish (menshevik) who want to impose socialism/communism via “peaceful” means (i.e., voters vote for the government to oppress everyone) and the unsqueamish (bolshevik) who are willing to openly advocate violence by non-government ideologues. Maxine Waters’ advocacy for mobs to physically assail political opponents is “bolshevik.” Pelosi urging Maxine to keep a lid on it is “menshevik.” The objective in either case is to establish tyranny by eradicating individual freedom.
Like anyone knows what that means.
I broke up with Rush when he did Chuck Schumer’s bidding behind the backs of his trusted audience (to whom he calls the guy Chuck U Schumer). And I disagree with both of you because the problem with our government is not ideological right now. I wish it were.
The true situation is that there is a globalist oligarchy attempting to run this and many other lands. They don’t have the USA and her people’s best interests in mind at all. They work only for their own wealth and power.
They own just about everyone in DC, regardless of “color of jersey.” It’s not about degree of left wing ideology. All ideologies are just used to achieve the ends of the globalists.
What you see yesterday in NY is a Sanders socialist beating out a member of the corrupt bought establishment Dems. Beating the globalist controlled propaganda media. It’s a sign of something good.
Rush of all people is missing the point: he always said we would win in a battle of ideologies and this is a step towards that battle. Watch these coming elections where obvious socialism will be head on cage matching with someone on the right. CA gov race, etc. The Dems will have to run on no borders etc. This is where we have a chance to expose the busy Gullibles to real constitutionalism and show them how freedom raises all boats. How can you be for socialism, an ideology that has ALWAYS FAILED (because it goes against human nature) over fairness and freedom for all? The oligarchy DOES NOT LIKE THIS ONE BIT. Gonna be a hot summer.
On the first of every month, I send Levin, Hannity and Rush an email that says. They aren’t liberals or progressives so stop using those terms. Start using neo-communists.
I always thought it was Mark Levin who first coined the sobriquet "Chuck U, Schumer!".
I think they can be categorized as either National Socialists or Communists.
Radicals/Progressives really is a distinction without a difference.
Howmany people have finished school in the last 30 years, either with diplomas or with post grad degrees, know what Mensheviks are or what the difference with Bolsheviks is? You have to have some exposure to history for that.
Bolshevik vs Menshevik would be meaningless comparison to many in his audience let alone the general public. Like me, some would know something about the Bolsheviks but would need to look up who exactly what the Mensheviks believed. Rush being the master of communication would take this into account and use a vocabulary fitting his audience. The label liberal has been stolen by the left as many here with would have identified with title to describe their librarian thoughts. But from my point of view I see no reason to separate them into two groups. I feel we should lump all together. Rob Reiner had it close with meat heads. But I think tufu heads is more fitting.

Red Army versus White Army all over again.
Over the last 30 years, the dims have moved left to the point that the CPUSA doesn’t run a candidate for president anymore. The dims have taken their place. The repubs moved into the vacuum the dims left. There are no repubs any more. In the election that featured obama vs mccain, we have a marxist against a democrat. Same with mittens.
The two groups are the hard left and the hard left that is mentally deranged.
