Red Hen owner Stephanie Wilkinson kicked Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her family out of her restaurant because she works for President Donald J. Trump. We've seen the news on this, the posts on Yelp, Facebook, etc. Well, there is more. Stehpanie Wilkinson is Executive Director of Main Street Lexington, which strives to promote business in downtown Lexington, Virginia. This is Rockbridge count, which voted 62.4% for Trump! I think we need to bring Wilkinson's bigotry to the attention of the bigger community and see if they back her or Trump.
Main Street Lexington needs emails and phone calls to hear our displeasure:
- Main Street Lexington email info@mainstreetlexington.org and phone is (540) 319-4181.
- Here are the folks: https://www.mainstreetlexington.org/who-we-are.html
- Stephanie Wilkinson, Executive Director, swilkinson@mainstreetlexington.org
- Lots of names on their staff and board, but the rest go to info@mainstreetlexington.org.
My message: "Are all organizations as bigoted as Red Hen? Should we boycott just them or the whole downtown and city of Lexington?"
And more! Go through their pages and reach out to her membership and neighbors. Are they all bigoted and do they support her? A quick glance at pages shows the following sponsors, partners, and members that should be contacted:
- Corner Stone Bank (J. Steven Grist, grists@cornerstonebankva.com)
- Kendal at Lexington (retirement community, no local contact)
- Rick Alford realtor (rick@rickalfordteam.com)
- Lexington Collaboratory (lexmakerspace@gmail.com)
- Cocoa Mill Chocolate Co (Laura de Maria, info@cocoamill.com)
- Flex Fitness (Wndy Orrison, orrisonw@gmail.com)
- Lexington General Store & Deli (Jonathan Tarris, jbtarris@gmail.com)
- Sugar Maple Trading Co (Cindy Hughes, cindy@sugarmapletradingcompany.com)
- Jamrock Island Grille (Devon Hewitt, jaman839@gmail.com)
- Kelly's Persian Food (Kereshmeh Kashefian, kelly.persian.food@gmail.com)
- Whistle Creek Treats (Eric Lynn, whistlecreektreats@gmail.com)
- Gladiola Girls Lexington (Lauren Haskell, lauren@gladiolagirls.com)
- Katherin Barron clothing (inquiries@katherinebarron.com)
- Red Newt Bike (Dave Walsh, dave@bestofvirginiabiketours.com)
- Lexrock Productions (Katrina Broughman, katrina@boxerwood.org)
- Shendandoah Organics (JuLee Messerich, julee.messerich@gmail.com)
- Heliotrope Brewery (Jenny Davies & Erik Jones, jeneferdavies@comcast.net)
- Make It Sew (Accacia Mullen, accacia@makeitsewva@gmail.com)
- Lex Running Shop (Jess Reid, reidljessica@gmail.com)
- Just Games Lexington (Zander Tallman, zandertallman@yahoo.com)
Got a few minutes, send them a polite email asking if they agree and support and appreciate the affiliation with Red Hen owner Stephanie Wilkinson. Should we boycott them as well?

I wasn’t aware of that, so maybe I’m wrong in making that particular comparison. But the greater point is, does a private business owner have the right to refuse service to anyone?
I see both sides, and I’m a big fan of SHS and am sorry this happened to her. But I also think there is a bigger point to be made here about freedom and limitations on same.
It seems to me that most everyone on FR has their dander up over this more than Mrs. Sanders herself seems to.

Do you think conservatives have the right not to be forced to bake cakes for queers?
We shouldnt be like liberals, ya know?
They have the right to deny service to me, as a Trump supporter. But I have the right to not patronize their establishment and I have the right to tell all my friends and associates not to do the same, which is what I told them in an email.

Nice Yelp by Keith from Baton Rouge:
(ok it’s not Edgar Allan Poe, but better than I could do)
Not going to swallow the food you are serving
Of our business you are not deserving
Imagine the scene if the tables were turned
The other side would the building burn
The faux croc tears and outright whiny rage
Where was it when Obama put kids in a cage
Spoiled and rancid not talking about the eats
These little babies need to go back to mama’s teat
You only have to endure another 6 or so
Get used to it folks and enjoy the extra dough
You have tried it all lied and raged
Most of the crap you have obviously staged
We are enjoying our country and the progress being
made
Once we have the wall we’ll have it made in the shade

I don’t know how people are making reservations and then not showing up - the phone is not being answered.
Monday contact the Main Street organization 540-319-4181 to let them know bigotry is not acceptable.
The owner of the hate restaurant is reportedly the executive director of Main Street.

Patriots need to harass the patrons of this establishment until they are forced to close.

I read on a different thread that this Wilkerson is a NY transplant. Brought her lib BS with her to a predominantly red area. Probably running from the high taxes that she wants everyone else to pay.
I don't know the significance, but another poster claims that she is also cousin to Maril(sp) Streep.

We should fill their streets with pissed off Trump supporters. The time for polite phone calls and emails is over.

I looked at pictures of the place. It looks like a deli/coffee shop place, not somewhere for fine dining. In fact it looks like dozens of others in any random college town.
You've seen them before, perhaps have been in them. Everyone has a vegan glutten-free muffin and a cup of free range sustainable latte made with organic soy milk. Mmmmmm! Their iPhone and MacBook are close at hand, along with the earbuds grooving on Music from the Hearts of Space.
Sit close enough, and you will smell the customers' patchouli cologne.

I agree that the Red Hen management/ownership has the right to not serve SHS. Heck, I cheered the owner of a Louisville steakhouse who refused to serve O.J. Simpson when he and his entourage showed up the week of the Kentucky Derby.
With that said, turnabout is fair play. Im not saying a government entity should be involved here. But private citizens showing her the error of her ways is just fine.

I agree. The property should (but after the Accommodations Act and the 1965 Civil Rights Act really doesn't) be able to use their property in any way that doesn't threaten the safety of others. I believe people such as this SJW restaurateur should have their conduct well publicized and be made to live with the consequences of their actions. Peaceful assembly to picket the establishment every Saturday would be one way to connect the public with the owners behavior.

To: FreedomPoster
Yep, fully agree.
Freedom comes at a cost, part of which is having to live with the consequences of one’s actions. Time will tell whether this has an impact on the Red Hen’s business, but it should be decided by the free market, not by government intervention.

Lexington is the home of VMI and the burial place of Stonewall Jackson. Washington and Lee university (yes, that Lee) is also there. How it became a haven for liberals is beyond comprehension.
